Members blueyedmule
listening to sound clips of different basses and pickups at their website. Which do ya like best? I've found I'm diggin' the Kent Armstrong lipstick pups on the Jerry Scheff model for some odd reason I can't figure yet. You? http://www.lakland.com/audio.htm
Members willsellout
I like the 44-94 I have probably the best. I'm not particularly blown away by any of their other basses, but then again I haven't been able to test them all out in any capacity. Dan
Members TeleFromHelly
I only listened to 4 or 5 of them but I really liked the semi-hollow bass w/ the baronlinis. The lipsticks were nice as well!
Moderators Kindness Posted November 25, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 25, 2008 Which do ya like best? The Glaub. I'm a P bass kind of guy. I also like the Hollowbody a bit.
Members blueyedmule
Yeah, I'm only going by the clips themselves, Dan, I've got zero realtime on a Lakland. The Chi-Sonics were freakin' huge-sounding I thought. Still, when I ran sound files for the P-basses they sounded the most proper to me. And the Ken Smiths just have a weird zing or round sound to them, not sure what. Nearly outa phase?? Dunno. I love the sound of the P-basses slapped, though, good mellow round tones. I think it's a generational thing. I'm gettin' oooooooold. . ..

Members blueyedmule
The clips are very realistic, but they don't tell you how good these basses feel in your hands. I have no doubt they're like sex/beern'pizza/sugarn'butter/gunsn'ammo/champagneglassbreasts/peanutbuttern'jelly or whatever else is your favorite thing that goes in hand. No doubt at all. For me, though, it's not just hands, when I play a bass I want to feel it through my body before I plug it in. I don't doubt they have that quality too. I love kickin' around the Lakland website, I wish other companies would take a clue card and put quality comparison sound files up of their basses too. What a wonderful world that would be. . .. I have to say, though, if I ever buy another bass it will have to be my custom build. It isn't boutique so much, it's just I have a certain pair of pickups I want showcased in a certain way. Someday. . ..
Members willsellout
There are few, if any, companies that operate as well as Lakland. Their basses are simply amazing. They are one of the few manufacturers that i would willingly throw down the asking price for. Dan

I second that playabilty factor with the Glaub. Very well balanced, easy to play and comfortable. Sounds pure and even too.
