Members Armchair Bronco
Man, WTF was the NFL thinking when it scheduled these dogs for Thanksgiving Day? Tennessee @ Detroit -- A team with 1 loss taking on the doormat of the NFL with zero wins? Are you kidding me? Seattle @ Dallas -- I'm a life-long Broncos fan living in Seattle, but this is little more than a "pride" game for the Hawks. Not interested. Arizona @ Phily -- Snoozeville. Sure, Kurt Warner is having an MVP season, and McNabb just got his old starting job back, but it's hard to get excited about this game. The only intrigue is whether McNabb will get booed by the locals again. Maybe there will be something worth watching on NFL Replay instead... Members nAmzrTakin
Never got American football. For a country that prides itself on it's verility why do you feel the need to strap on 20 kilos of padding to play Rugby? Aussie rules football = Man's game. You line up 5 average Aussie rules players, and I'll line up 5 average NFL players, and we'll see who needs pads, chino. I'm not taking anything away from Aussie football, but all I see is a bunch of soccer players with anger management issues. Members Armchair Bronco
Don't hijack the thread! We're talking about crap-ola games here, not whether Aussie football is more manly! Having said that, most NFL team have world class sprinters as receivers catching spiraling bullets thrown to them at 70 MPH. Your Assie rugby dudes do pitchback tosses to each other! Come on, man! One pass from a John Elway and your typical Aussie would have a broken hand.
Members Crescent Seven
One pass from a John Elway and your typical Aussie would have a broken hand. Word. Take a spiral in the face from one of the stronger arms in the league today without a helmet, and it's lights out. Plus, how many guys in the Aussie leagues are 270 lbs and laying hits on 230 lb guys when both of them are running full speed at each other? If an NFL running back and an NFL linebacker collided the way they do 20 times a game without pads, it would be disasterous. And Armchair Bronco, you're right about the matchups. Tennessee at Detroit? Daunte Culpepper is gonna go 9 for 33 with 24 interceptions and 47 sacks.C7
Members Armchair Bronco
I mean: why not make Washington @ Dallas a predictable Thanksgiving Day matchup? Or Dallas vs. NYG? And to balance out that matchup of Eastern Division NFC Teams, the NFL should have a classic AFC West matchup: Denver vs. Oakland. Even if both team are in the tank, they HATE each other and *usually* put on a good show. Plus, we'd get to have some of those cool shots of Al Davis in his Owner's Box, with a walker to one side, a pack of "Depends" on his lap, and a couple of bimbos to the left of him. Classic! Members Armchair Bronco
Where you been? The Thanksgiving games suck every year, and have since Leon Lett! Here's the Wikipedia summary of that infamous Thanksgiving Day game from 1993...Man! Hard to believe that game was 15 years ago! It's under a subhead entitled "Infamous Plays": == 1993 Thanksgiving Classic The second [infamous] play (ranked #3 in both ESPN lists) occurred during the very next season and was actually more serious as it resulted in a Cowboy defeat. On Thanksgiving Day in 1993, during a rare snow and sleet storm in Dallas, the Cowboys were leading the Miami Dolphins 14-13 with mere seconds remaining in the game. The Dolphins attempted a 41-yard field goal to take the lead but the kick was blocked. While most of his teammates began celebrating, Lett attempted to recover the ball. He slipped on the ice as he tried to pick up the football, and Miami recovered the "muff" on the Dallas one yard line. Had Lett simply done nothing, the Cowboys would have automatically received possession and could have run out the clock. By touching the ball and then failing to hold onto it, Lett enabled the Dolphins to take possession and then try another field goal. This second attempt was successful and the Dolphins won the game 16-14. In 2008, the game was named the third-most memorable in the history of Texas Stadium by ESPN. == What a dumbass! Pretty entertaining game, though.
Members sludgebass69
I agree with the OP.......'cept the Cards/Eagles game might be mildly entertaining. Detroit needs to be taken off the T-Day schedule at least until they have a .500 season.........

I don't mind Dallas as they have wide national appeal and I can always root against them (tho the 'Hawks have about as good a chance as Detroit at winning today)............Detroit tho? really? Even as a Bears fan I can't even care to root against them 'cept for the games against the Bears. At the least they should have a divisional game on T-day. Members MahaloVision
As another Bronco fan displaced to the Seattle area, I have to take some issue with the original post. At the beginning of the year, everybody thought the Shehawks would be contending for (if not running away with) the division, and this game loomed huge on the calendar. As they said on the radio, you can't flex Thanksgiving. We've already had the Patriots game flexed back to a daytime start. It's all part of our giving nature here in the NW. At the beginning of the year, everybody thought the Shehawks would be contending for (if not running away with) the division, and this game loomed huge on the calendar. You're right. At the start of the season, this game seemed to have a lot of potential. Seattle's collapse from the ranks of the contenders surprised everyone. Man, what a crappy year for Seattle sports: first, the Mariners implode after being pegged to win the ALCS, then we lose the Sonics to some rich guy in Oklahoma, and finally the Hawks have crumbled in Holmgren's swansong season. Thankfully, the Seattle Women's Badminton team is kicking some serious ass or 2008 would be a complete and utter failure in the Emerald City. Members PiotreX
I chased my brother out of the room to watch the Titans play while stringing a lacrosse stick(you don't argue with a guy with a yard of aluminum in his hands) but the game just plain sucked. I might watch Dallas though since T.O. got some passes last week. When I started watching the NFL again last year, i was torn between the Steelers and the Eagles and to some extent the Ravens(they had a good defensive reputation). But after getting familiar with Big Ben, I'm no longer torn. Go Steelers! and happy Thanksgiving

Members Armchair Bronco
One down, 2 to go. Tennessee wins game #1: 47 to 10. Yawn-o-ramma. Next up: Seattle @ Dallas. Members PiotreX
I'm gonna pass on the second half. It's quite clear that Dallas will own Seattle. BTW. Did you see the brushed off circle in the middle of the 10yd line? I'm pretty sure someone's been playing lacrosse on that field and that that used to be a crease Speaking of the crease, listen to A day of pigs - In the crease. That's some nasty sludge riffage right there. Great pump up song IMO
Members Armchair Bronco
Holmgren should have been going for it on 4th and goal. Now we have 3 field goals and are getting mauled on national TV. What a disgrace!
