He has a new signature bass.

I think this is like his third signature Yamaha bass.

He had the original Attitudes of 10-15 years back. Then the new Attitudes, which suck ballsack IMO, then the acoustic bass, now this, which I think sucks large too. So technically this would be his fourth with them. Not counting the subtle variations on each era's Attitude of course.

He did a clinic locally a few weeks back, so he is definitely still active.

What is it you don't like about the new Attitudes vs. the older??

it looks like a low budget bass if not for the fancy pickups. I'm against. I never really listened to Sheehan a lot so I'm not a fan. But those attitude basses seemed real nice. this just looks like a typical yamaha, which I don't really like.

Grab the neck at the first fret and you will know. A p bass shouldn't neck dive like that sucker does. The neck was just SO uncomfortable to play, it hurt my hand in seconds. And I used to have a 5 string Variax, and liked it.

Ahhh. . .the old headdive thing. And his earlier Attitudes didn't?? I have the newer Attitude, I don't mind the dive. But then again I also play a T-bird and a 12ver that has a headstock that acts like a one-way elevator to Hellsville.

Hey, did you count his pinkish Dimarzio bass?

It has a Hipshot, so is top heavy, but there was just A LOT of meat at the first fret, it slims down as you go up it for tapping and all that. It's fatter than the fattest P at the nut and a Geddy at the other end. Very weird feeling.

Billy likes lots of mass on the neck and headstock. He uses a Fatfinger to add mass and has even used stuff like vise grips when he's recording.

I hadn't noticed the drasticness of the shape change on the neck. . .I think part of that "thinness" at the body joint may also be for neck bends.

I likes my Attitude, but then again, I play some drastically different neck shapes. From the Attitude to a Geddy, T-bird to SUB, 12ver to 5ver Spector to acoustic bass guitar to cello. :) I guess I'm not as selective. I do notice though that I play differently on different basses. They want to do different things. I guess it's in their nature.

I have one of the first ones, and it's also neck-heavy.

That's not the fault of the D-tuner though, I've got two on my custom bass and it doesn't pull at all.

The Attitude has an extremly long headstock. Also if you look at where the bridge is, they could have moved the neck in a bit, and I'm pretty sure, combined with a smaller headstock there would've been no pull.

Then again, it's Billy's Signature Model, they made it like he wanted it, and that's pretty much it.

I ain't givin mine up.

He should get his ass over to somewhere near Norway together with Novello and Chambers!

Regarding the Attitudes, I have owned the LTD-II, and allthough the neckdive was there, it was an awesome bass. Killer tone and brilliant build-quality. I'm going to buy another one at some point in the future.

Well.... whatever.

It's not like I'm some kind of religious prude, who hates people for not worshipping Gawd or worshipping the wrong Gawd, cuz Gawd knows I ain't in church enough to redeem my Hellbound soul.

But to get suckered into a sci-fi writer's make-believe cult based on aliens.....
