Saw King's X on Saturday night...

First of all, Jaxx in Springfield, VA is a pain in the ass to get to from Baltimore, MD.

Second, when opening for King's X, don't be a pop punk band.

Otherwise, the show was {censored}ing awesome. dUg played 4-string for most of the show: his new custom Dean Hardtail, but brought the 12-string out for one song (can't remember the name of it). His singing was flawless, despite crackling in his earbuds which was "{censored}ing him up" (according to him). And his tone was monstrous, and got louder as the show went on.

Jerry was sick with the flu, and looked it, and even sounded it when he sang, but he still gave 110% on drums AND vocals, and never missed a beat. He looked like he was going to collapse during the encore, however.

Ty's guitar playing was incredible. Despite a few technical problems with his new Egnater rack setup (which sounded incredible, btw), his playing was absolutely stunning. I was standing directly in front of him and his four 4x12s; which reminds me...

These guys were LOUD. And they kept turning up the volume as the night went on. Not quite Motorhead loud, but loud enough that my ears are still ringing. But the show was way better than Motorhead, and way more enjoyable because there wasn't a bunch of stupid moshing and crowdsurfing to try and survive through.

In addition to being loud, they're also super nice. Right after the show, they stayed after to sign autographs, take pictures, and just hang out. A class act. :thu: I will definitely be buying a bunch of their CDs, and attending as many of their shows as I can.

...and now you see Ox why I carry the flag(Black Flag even!;)) for King's X much in the same way you do for The Who and Tull, they are a GREAT live band and Im glad everytime I see someone new to them become a true fan. And I agree, Ive never met a more genuinely nice group of guys in a band, they really are good to their fans and tear the roof off everytime I see them play.:thu:

I really do hope that they can make it to Australia once before they stop touring...

Awesome!

I have seen these guys three times now and they have never dissapointed. Dugs tone is just incredible. And each time they came out and hung out with the crowd afterward.

I think it's a shame they are not bigger than they are, it never ceases to amaze me.

And I found out yesterday they were in Milwaukee. We always seem to end up on the last minute spots on their tours for some reason, I didnt see it listed when they announced the tour dates.

Going to see them for p[robably the 11th or 12th time.....

I've only seen one show that wasn't top notch, and that was due to equipment problems and the guys being sick.... can't wait!!

They were great despite equipment problems and being sick... and Ty's new Egnater rig is absolutely killer sounding.

And you wonder why Kenny and I rave about them.

I'm on my way to the Dallas show on the 19th. I expect greatness, and these guys deliver every time.

The 12ver was probably on "Pray" from their newest CD.

Also, if they did "King", you cashed out. They haven't played this song live for a good number of years for personal reasons.

I am so psyched to see what they pull out of the bag...can't wait. And their post-show meet-and-greet is always 100%, they will sign autographs and talk to anybody about anything. Nicest, most down-to-earth trio of pure talent I've ever seen.
