Members bbl
I never thought I'd get into the gold anodized pickguard, but dang, on a 57 RI with a maple board... EDIT: I think I might get this same combo, but in sonic blue, and a J neck. Fender Custom Shop is waiting for my call.

Moderators ThudMaker Posted December 9, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2008 Select a different pickguard and rock that bad chicken. Personally I'd go with a tort, but a pearloid (depending on the color) might look nice as well a a solid black.
Members slapthefunkyfour
I can't stand the anodized pickguards. My fingernails always scrape against them and to me it feels like scratching a chalkboard. I hate it. Other than that, I would say very YAY. Members bassplayer7770
I dig it. How does it sound and play? You could also upgrade the bridge with a Gotoh 201 pretty cheaply.
Members fretless
Those basses are the best Fender has to offer IMO I put titanium saddles on mine The guard is part of the charm I love this bass , feather weight and always sounds amazing , flats or rounds can't go wrong ! Members jasper383
Is that the MIM 50's P Bass? If you can get into the really wide and flat neck, those are great.

I don't have it... yet. I'm thinking about going Fender Custom Shop. It's been a loooong time since I've bought a brand new bass, and I've never custom ordered one. I want a P-Bass with a Jazz neck. And it's gotta be a lefty bass, too.

Members Thumper
 I had an MIA '57 reissue P in the same color scheme. They sound great and are awesome players, as long as you can get used to a flatter radius on the neck. I found it quite comfy.
