Members db.
I'm auditioning for a band on Saturday. They have a Live, U2, Pearl Jam, Radiohead sound. Question is: they have a GK Backline 112 Combo in their studio. I have a Line 6 Lowdown 150 (112) as a small gig/practice amp. The singer (and studio owner) suggested - more like insisted - I just bring my bass and plug into the GK, but I've already tweaked out my Line 6 with presets that I love. And I've never used a GK 112 Combo. Should I insist on the Line 6? Or just {censored} it and plug into the GK? I have a Gretsch Electromatic Jet Bass. Thanks for any advice... Members Thumper
Bring your rig, but use their studio rig for the first couple songs. If you seem to be hitting it off with them, mention you have your own gear and ask if they'd like to hear it.
Members nAmzrTakin
I'd audition with whatever they want. When you get in then put your foot down. Only 112!? Puh-Lease.
Members tylytle
Maybe he was just being nice and thought you would like not having to bring your gear. Thumper has good advice.

That's kind of what I was going to do. In any case, I don't know how loud they rehearse, but I know my Line 6 can get wall-shaking loud (because of my presets). Thanks. That could well be, he seems like a real nice guy. And me likes your avatar.
Members Brother Mango
When I went to bass camp, Victor Wooten pointed out something after Marcus Miller left: "Did you notice? Marcus came in, plugged in and played. And what did he sound like? He sounded like Marcus." If I'm understanding your concern, I don't think it should be a concern. And I'm thinking that since this is an audition, sometimes they don't take a lot of time. Do you want to go moving a rig, having them make space for it, set up & break down? And the actual audition lasts 30min? I say, travel light, go plug into whatever they've got. Keep it simple.

Members fingeringam
Tone is in teh fingers and picofards A good band is looking at attitude first, skills secondIf you show up with your gear your already telling them "thanks but I'll pass", and most likely they'll return the favor
Members db.
Damn. I'll just rock on the GK and see what happens. I'm feeling good about this one, and the tone is probably not going to be the dealbreaker at this point. Thanks for the sage advice, boys.
