Members chubrocker
Sorry, but I just don't like them. I read these articles with pros and semi-pros using SWR heads and cabs. I guess I don't play well enough. I'm too sloppy. hehe I feel like I'm in the minority.
Members t3ch
I liked the SWR Triad I've played, but I've never tinkered with their amps. I've always wanted to checkout the Marcus head from them... Not that I'll be leaving Aguilar anytime soon, regardless
Members blueyedmule
Have you ever tried the Super Redhead combo?? I can't imagine anyone bein' a 100% SWR hater after playing through one. I think raw lumber jacked into one would probably sound good.

Yeah, that's the SWR gear that has impressed me most, and the one I played through at a local music shop was well-used. I don't see myself buying any SWR gear, but I've certainly heard others sound very good through their gear.
Members Guttermouth
i've never been a fan of their amps. all the ones i've played through just sounded flat and a bit on the lifeless side.
Members WillPlay4food
I have a pre-Fender 410 I picked up for an IMO great price used a couple years ago. I like the sound, but as I haven't been through tons of gear and not ever owning other higher end brands of bass cabs I'll leave it at that. Moderators Kindness Posted December 10, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 10, 2008 I've played SWR products that I've thought were the absolute worst products in their class, I've played others that were alright and I've played one that I thought was the best in its class. In general, I'm not a big fan, but I think it is usually the cabinets that I dislike.

Moderators Kindness Posted December 10, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 10, 2008 I haven't played yours. The only ones I've played through are at studios, usually CRC, and a short lived combo from another forumite.
Members georgestrings
Not a fan, either - I've played a fair amount of SWR products, and been pretty much underwhelmed with the majority of them... I recently A/B'd a Goliath Sr 610 against a Mesa Powerhouse 610, and it was no contest at all - the Mesa SMOKED that SWR... - georgestrings
Members collinwho
I loved the Super Redhead combo I played through, but I haven't been impressed with anything else of theirs that I tried.
Members blueyedmule
If your working experience of SWR is limited to their Workingman line, I don't blame you. I haven't ever played through any Workingman gear that I liked. On the other hand, if I ever decide to go smaller and part with the Mesa/Boogie 400+, the Super Redhead is where I'm goin'. I still want to hear your Ampeg with them though, if things would ever slow down and you'd still be up for it.
Members RSBro
The Henry 8x8 (old school, at least) is a BAD mother. I would like to have that plus an old SM-900 for a studio setup, but I could find better live I think.

Members Bogster
I love my Triad. LOVE it. Great cab. One of the best I've ever played through and certainly the best one I've ever owned. I can't say much for their heads as my experience with them is minimal and I've heard mixed reviews. Members Sugarskull
I always wanted a super redhead purely for aesthetic and self absorbed reasons. However, I couldn't get a player's discount so they must burn in hell. Just kidding, Guitarworks doesn't carry them, so I couldn't get staff prices. I really dug it. I seem to enjoy combination cabs.
Members fretless
I like most of their cabs , The Baby Blue , The Stereo 800 , still one of the best old school power amps , and can be had cheap , the 400 and 350 are all damn fine amps . That's about it for me .

Members fealach
I think the heads sound good, though it's not a sound I'm particularly after, but they don't go nearly loud enough considering the advertised wattage. The only cabinet I have much time with is the 8X8, which also sounded good at low volumes but couldn't handle the big tube heads I had at the time. I was quite fond of the Interstellar Overdrive, possibly their best product.
Members jackcheez
I'm not nuts about them. At on point I purchased an SM 900 with a goliath 4x10 and a big ben 1x18. I did not cut it. Should have kicked ass. I got my money back on that deal. I have an old bigfoot 2x12 cab that I still like though.
