Members poomwah
ok, you have to spend 23 bucks and guitar center, what would you get. My mother called me about my nephew needing a few things for his guitar, I found the stuff at guitar center, she doesn't want to pay shipping so she told me to pick something for 23 dollars to bring the order up to their free shipping requirement. I don't have any money to put with it. So for 23 dollars. What should I get? I can't really think of anything that I NEED. I've got plenty of picks, plenty of extra strings. Members HORSE
A capo and a drum tuning key. Then you'll be every band member's favorite bassist. Maybe a pocket mirror for the singer, too....

Members poomwah
well, it turned out to be a moot point. my other nephew is getting into playing, so I just unloaded some old gear. My mom said if I give him the old stuff for christmas that I could add another 100 bucks to the order... so it just went from 23 to 123, LOL I can almost get a bass, LMAO

Members Thumper
A decent strap. A multi-tool ala Leatherman, etc. Or, lie to mom and buy $23-worth of beer, chips, and Little Smokie cocktail sausages and have a party.

Members solderjunkie
I would start with the nifty Korg "Pitchjack" tuner... I have one in the "tuner out" jack of my amp. $19.99 Korg Pitchjack tuner I've wanted to try one of these Jellyfish picks as well... I never could justify $10 for a pick, but if I had to spend money I'm sure I would try it. Cool Jellyfish pick
Members georgestrings
I've got plenty of picks, plenty of extra strings. This is unpossible... need any cables??? - georgestrings
Members georgestrings
+1 I always find out what sticks my drummer uses and strings the guitarists use and have a secret stash in my gig bag. That's being entirely TOO kind... I'm thinking of buying my drummer some 9v batteries for his drum bag, so that he's not always poaching my wireless stash for his IEMs - it'll be like a Christmas gift for both of us, hahaha!!!... - georgestrings
Members georgestrings
Maybe a pocket mirror for the singer, too.... In my experience, the singer isn't always the only member that can make use of a pocket mirror - although that was a pretty good one... - georgestrings

Members poomwah
well, I'm all fixed for strap, strap locks, strings, tools. I really like that jack mount tuner, but my tuner out is on the BACK of my amp :[ My pedal has a tuner it in anyway, so I'm set there. I went through musicians friend instead of GC, used one of their coupons, and wound up 5 dollars UNDER the total we had set as a limit :] So she got my nephews gig bag and strap, and I got me a cable to hook my pedals together, got my wife a hot pink 15 foot cable for her bass (to go with the black and pink checkerboard strap she has), and I said the hell with and bought a SUPER cheap bass )read : generic as hell and probably close to unplayable) But I figured there was an empty spot on the wall and it wasn't costing me anything, LOL

Members xbassman
I just bought a capo and slide for my bass. Dude... alternate tunings + slide = Renfield is da MAN!! I have been fighting with a few tunes that are in Db on a B tuned bass. Wouldn't even be a problem, but I am singing so the transposition is giving me hell. Heck I already have a capo and it's going to rehearsal with me today!

Wouldn't even be a problem, but I am singing so the transposition is giving me hell. Heck I already have a capo and it's going to rehearsal with me today! Wicked. I see no shame in using a capo, slide, allen key... whatever to make noise. It's an expression, music shouldn't have rules like some think it should. Some used to bag on a bassist when he'd use a pick (heck, some still do), so why then should a capo or slide be off limits? What about a thumb pick? I've used that too before. If basses can have frets and pickups, then all bets are off, the biggest "authenticity" rule has already been broken already, so bring it on.
