Members GearsOfWar
Heya guys, This is a bass I might want to add to my shortlist of 5 string basses I need to check out. I want to purchase my new 5 stringer within 2 weeks time or so, so I am curious to hear what you guys think of this one. If any of you has played one or ownes one, let me know what you think! Thanks! Members zbasstringer
I own the F-155DX. The difference between mine and that one is that one has a neck through body, a mahagony body (as compared to basswood), EMG pick-ups 9as compared to ESP pick-ups, a different bridge, and grover tuners. I love my bass. The neck isn't too thin, but I would prefer if it was a bit thicker. It plays pretty well, and when it's strung through the body, it gets a {censored}load of sustain. Members Bogster
I've never played one. But Steve DiGiorgio seems to think well enough of the F series of LTD's, and that's a pretty resounding endorsement if you ask me. 35" scale. Neck-thru (string-thru?). Mahogany body. Killer flame maple finish. EMG 40DC's. I've never been huge on spiky, gothic-looking bodies, but have always considered these an exception. I've played an F-series 205 LTD before and liked it. And this seems like an upgrade in many ways to the model I played. Would be a killer metal bass, I'm sure. Seems like a win to me.

Playing a 6 stringer now with a neck that isn't to wide either, so that is all right.I should find a store to try it out...

I feel the same about spiky, gothic like bodies, but for some reason I just love this thing! See through black, also something I love. But people consider this to be to much of a metal bass (because of the looks) and to "male"...but first I need to know how it feels, plays and sounds before I start worrying how it looks on me... But in my search for a good (metal) 5 stringer, this one seems to be having the best price/ quality and I honestly love the looks of it... It has been a long time since I had some GAS, but I can notice some GAS development going on here...

Dude, I just want to take a second to compliment you on your writing and communication skills, and your knowledge of bass related topics. I know you're 15, but you write like you're out of college. None of the silly l33t speak bull{censored}, good stuff. Stick around here, bro. Even though I can't drink 40's with you legally, you're still my homey. Members Bensbeenjamin
I haven't played one but it definitely looks sick. It's got some pointy edges but they don't look extremely pointy, heck you don't wanna poke the guitarists eye out doing a sick bass trick. As far as the pickup's if your playing any form of metal/hard rock a lot of people are using EMG pickups and from what I've heard, they sound pretty damn good. Dang, I really need to get my hands on one to try it out...but for some reason that it is difficult to find one hanging in a store around here... And yes, LTD/ESP is usually EMG and used a lot in the metal/ hard rock. I need a decent bass for my thrash metal band (currently using a 6 stringer, but the C is not really needed.. ) , therefor I am looking into 5 stringers... But I don't want to order one before I have tried it out...

Members t3ch
All I know is I really want one. One of the slickest looking basses I've ever seen was that model in the two shades of brown. Oh my. Gimme gimme gimme.
Members Bogster
Steve DiGiorgio, currently playing with Sebastian Bach right? Well, yeah. Actually, I was thinking more of his work with Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth, etc. Good luck in whatever you choose.
Members Bryan316
I've recently tried these two out: They'd be the same as playing the F-series bodies. Same electronics, same construction, same tone. The spalted bass was a thru-neck. Decent sustain, but very twangy and very hard to get comfy on. It was an oiled finish, and felt weird to me. I'm sure I'd get used to it. EMG's rebranded as ESP pickups. Probably just the EMG-HZ's. The walnut bass was the exact same construction, but glossy finish. Deeper natural tone, REALLY comfy, and for whatever reason the neck join area was carved and sculpted a lot smoother and cleaner than the spalted bass. I coulda easily walked out the store with that thing, except a local kid had his ESP for sale for $75 cheaper, and I figured I'd help him out first. I wish I woulda got the walnut bass instead! I might still try to go trade this ESP in for the walnut one...
Members GearsOfWar
Guys, thanks for all your input...i have ordered the biatch! First time ever for me to just order a bass without even trying it out, but I couldn't find anything bad about this bass, so I just went for it. With a bit of luck I will have it on friday... Members Bryan316
WARNING You will find these EMG's to be really, REALLY hot pickups. Drop your gain considerably. If you got a Hi-Low gain switch, use it to pad your gain a bit. Will let you retain some control over your settings, otherwise it'll just fart out and distort any time you hit a strong note. I found it better to use less gain and then crank the amp more, and it's working well for me now with my ESP.

Surprisingly enough, if you want a really clean pre-amp/pickup, look into cirrus/peavey electronics.
