Just sent a check to pay off my mortgage today, so we now own our house! It is not the newest, biggest, or fanciest around, but it is all ours. Knocked out a 30 year note in 6.5 years. I guess if i get GAS now, wife won't tell me no...not a bad christmas present.

Sweet.

They have this great house by my parent's farm they dropped the price on dramatically. I wish I could afford it. It's 5.1 acres and a 3b2b house with a HUGE HUGE garage/workshop for $299k

Living on a farm kicks much ass.

:cry:We still owe about 70:cry:

But, it may be time to re-finance :thu:

Like Kindness, wifey and I did that a few years ago. Awesome feeling. And it has lasted for a few years now, every single time we sit down and pay bills and get to skip that one! :thu:

We used that monthly note to pay off all our other bills (medical, credit card, etc.) and don't owe anyone anything. Great feeling.

Congrats!

was off dealing with kid for a bit....I live in a little town in East Texas, nearest town of size is Lufkin, we are in between Tyler and Houston. Not a real exciting place to live, but cost of living is cheap. What I paid for this house is maybe a down payment on houses in most parts of the country. No one makes great money here, but it evens out. Lot of good fishing/hunting in area, but, live music, etc is horrible, unless you like country music.

Great!

Man, can't wait till I'm there! Once I unload the condo on the market, I won't be far away from doing that myself. And in this economy, such a thought is incredibly comforting, way beyond anything the personal finance gurus can convince me about the benefits of carrying a mortgage!
