Members Jugghaid
merry Christmas to ME! Finally decided to pop for a new toy. Sig P226 DAK in .40S&W. Also got the 22lr conversion kit for it to save cash at the range. got 4 15 round mags for the 40sw rounds and the conversion kit came with 2 mags for the 22lr setup. My local guy threw in 100 rounds of 40Sw and I got out of there with everything for under a grand. Off to the range tonight to break her in. Members brbcsb
nice, and with the current ( and I hate to think future) price of ammo, you will make your money back with the .22 kit. make sure you read the manual, the .22 kit I use for my Glock is very finicky, only likes certain .22 ammo. Not a big deal, it likes the cheap stuff.

Not a big deal, it likes the cheap stuff. I usually shoot winchester white 22lr. I have about 1000 rounds for my Ruger 10/22. And yeah, ammo is gonna go up. I recently scored 1000 rounds of Win White FMJ 9x19 for my Glock at a killer price. I'm gonna try and stock up a bit. I bought 8 of those .50 cal ammo tins form cheaper than dirt to store it all in. I almost got the 9mm but since I have a G19 I decided to go .40 this time. i was also REALLY tempted by the new P350. you can change it from /40Sw to 9mm to /357 SIG. The setup I wanted would have been 9mm and /40SW and a compact and standard gripset as well. you can change it from compact to standdard to subcompact with any of the calibers. Cool seup. Would have cost me about $1500 though and they didnt have all the grip modules and barrels I wanted for it in stock either.

Great all around 22lr rifle. Can't really go wrong with them at all. I also got a nice red dot scope for it (a cheap BSA but it works great) last week. Members 78pbass
Great gun! I've got the 225 (P6) and love it. Dead on reliable and unkillable.
Members gspointer
Awesome gun. Regarding ammo cost, Hornady sells its Progressive reloading press with a certificate for 1000 free bullets. If you decide to reload pistol ammo, I would look at a Dillon 550, 650 or a Hornady LnL AP. (If you get the Hornady make sure it is the most recent design with the EZ-ject instead of the wire. I absolutely love the factory single action trigger break on the Sigs. I liked my 226 so much ..... I bought one for my wife. Of course now I need to buy another one so I have a .40 also. No need to mess around with a 9 and a .40. I will probably clean mine up, oil it pretty heavily and stick it in a safe with a few other guns I dont use too much anymore. I'm thinking about loading my own. Never done it before but you can save beaucoup $$$ doing it and load exactly what you like shooting. I might start on that later this year. And I've always liked the sig triggers. I like the Glock too, but a Sig just fits my hand perfectly and the pull is like buttah.....And i really like the feel of the DAK double action only. Members Bernie P.
Here in NY it's a drawn out process.I was talking with a guy at the watering hole yesterday that said it took almost a year to get his concealed carry permit. He lives in Oneida co whereas I'm right next door in Lewis which from what I hear is even worse.I'll take whatever I can get. It sucks because my friends (and SO) would rather just go to IN and shoot then get their IL FOID. that said, I either go alone, or I go to po-dunk IN. I'd rather go with people (i'm pretty competetive) so i'll occasionally go alone but it's not as fun. for me.

Okay. but can you OWN a handgun without a permit? Or do you just need a permit to carry?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted December 19, 2008 CMS Author Share Posted December 19, 2008 Okay. but can you OWN a handgun without a permit? Or do you just need a permit to carry? NY state laws vary from county to county, and city to city. What's common is that ALL handguns are banned, and you do need a permit to own via an exemption to the ban law. It's a huge hassle. Members J.
Nice gun! I'm thinking about getting a pistol myself, now that I'm getting into firearms. Of course, as I've posted ten times already, gun prices are going through the roof. I really, really hope the next administration and Congress don't pass some retarded gun ban. What is your opinion of Taurus? Someone told me many of their weapons, especially their automatics, are Beretta copies (they used the old Beretta factory in South America). I like their 7 shot revolver chambered in .357 magnum. You can shoot .38 special to save money. I also want to pick up one of those inexpensive surplus Mosin Nagant rifles too. I hear that the kick from the 7.62x52mm ammo plus the old wooden stock (w/metal buttplate, nonetheless) is pretty brutal.

Just keep the butt in the pocket between your shoulder muscles & pectoral muscle & you'll be fine. I did 60 rds of 2 3/4" 12ga out of a marine magnum about 2 weeks ago & felt fine afterwards. Members J.
Great all around 22lr rifle. Can't really go wrong with them at all. I also got a nice red dot scope for it (a cheap BSA but it works great) last week. That's the .22LR rifle I plan on getting. The Ruger 10/22 is everywhere... there are so many aftermarket accessories it's crazy. Unfortunately Ruger doesn't make any high capacity magazines for it (I read somewhere that it's just not their company philosophy to do so), but you can get tons of aftermarket ones. Tons of stock replacements too, from Dragunov-esque ones to stocks with pistol grips and folding buttstocks. My favorite is the overmoulded rubberized Hogue stock. I saw a used one in a sporting goods store - it was the target model with the HUGE barrel and an olive green Hogue stock. Awesome gun, but it was $350 used. Hard to justify since you can get a brand new standard 10/22 for less than $200. Mossberg makes a nice .22LR autoloading rifle that's actually a bit cheaper than the Ruger, but there are hardly any aftermarket accessories for it. I don't believe there are any commercially available high capacity magazines, so you're stuck with the factory 10 round. Remington makes the 597, which is an awesome .22LR autoloader. It's more expensive than the Mossberg and the Ruger, but it's high quality. It doesn't have near the aftermarket accessories as the 10/22 of course, but it Remington does make a 30 round clip for it so you aren't stuck with the 10 round that comes with the rifle. Members gspointer
That 350 used ruger may have been a killer deal. I have been checking out barrels (mostly for my Sako .17 hmrf and my Colt AR. I will probably get a Lilja barrel, they make one for a 10-22 for about 355.00. So, if you want a hogue stock, they are what about 80.00, + 100 or more for a good aftermarket barrel, it could be a great deal if you had any interest in adding that stuff anyway.
