Members Bonoman
What is hanukkah? Edit: I know it's a Jewish celebration, but what is being celebrated? Basically, a successful uprising from about 2BC in which we Jews took our temple back from Antiochus and the Greeks, who had the empire du jour in Israel/Palestine at the time. A small band of Jews took on the might of the empire and won, and then we held the temple despite the fact that we were desperately outnumbered. The lighting candles for eight nights thing comes from the fact that we only had enough oil to keep the candles in the temple lit for one night, but somehow they miraculously stayed lit for eight nights, at which point the siege was over and we were victorious. The presents for eight nights comes from Christmas envy.

Members Bonoman
Yeah, but what happens is you get one good present and then 7 crappy ones. That's actually usually the way it goes. I don't care, personally. To me, it's not about the presents. It's about having good times with people that I love. Of course, were somebody to get my a PS3 I wouldn't complain too much...
