There always seems to be a lack of bass players at these things so be prepaired to play all night.

Talent can range from smokeing to fried.

Theres a good chance you'll find out first hand.

Yup. Hey, the OP is in my neck of the woods. Maybe I'll show up and be the bad and the fried all at once.

I'm assuming this is a bar/club so the do's and don'ts depend on who you want to make happiest $$.

If you let a group get up too early they will leave with all their friends and relatives. If too late they will get tired of waiting and leave. If you have a large group wanting to play then get them up early and promise to get them up again in a later set. The chances are slim a solo player will have more followers then a group so squeeze them in the middle sets.

If your jam becomes a regular event try not to make it too clicky ? I have gone to jams where the same jamers get up and "take over" from the host band for the whole night. Let new blood get up often and don't forget the solo singers.

Good luck.
