Members ezstep
I am getting a new rear tire for the cruiser...at just over 9000 miles! It that about normal nowadays? The shop guy said that 10,000 is pretty standard. I want a second opinion.
Members L-1329
Now you know I've never put 9000 miles on a single bike. My bike has about 5000 miles on it and entirely too much tread life left. It's not happy with me at all in recent years for lack of use, especially with as much time I spent with the vette this past summer instead of the bike. I'm still envious as hell of you southern riders, you have no idea! edit: I'd probably say that 10000 miles is not bad for a rear tire.
Members ezstep
I have always said "Get the best tires you can get...and trust your tires when you lean into them." Much better safe than sorry. I'm getting the tire. Thanks. EDIT: BTW, and not rubbing it in, but it was 72 degrees yesterday, 73 degrees as I type, and I took a short ride today with a long-sleeved tee shirt. Tomorrow, highs about 45 and Monday highs about 35. It changes.

Members Emprov
For what it's worth, I never got more than around 6-8k on the tires of any of my bikes.

Much better safe than sorry. I'm getting the tire. Absolutely, and especially for you with as much real road riding as you do. I have always looked at bike tires as a tiny expense every few years that was worth everything in terms of piece of mind. I want to ride and never have the thought in my head that I'm pushing the tire's beyond their safe reliable limits. My tires suffer from dry rot if I'm not careful more than they'll wear the tread out, but it's still the same idea of replacing before they become unsafe. Enjoy the weather down there, and the riding. Put a few miles in for me while you're at it!
