Members chubrocker
I've been looking to get another 800RB. But, I've just had a chance to maybe trade for an Eden WT-400A head. I've played a 800 head, but I've never A/B'd a GK to an Eden. What are the tonals differences? Is the Eden something better to consider over the GK? My gut reaction is YES, but I'm so familiar with the GK tone.
Members bassplayer7770
I used to own a WT400 head. It had solid sound, but I think the wattage was a bit overstated. I've played through some GK heads too, and I was rather impressed. Seriously, it's a tough call, and only you can decide which tone you like best. If you're already familiar with GK and like the tone, then just go with what you know.
Members catphish
Very dissimilar tone wise.
Members T. Alan Smith
Very dissimilar tone wise. Yes, and...yes. Depends on what you want. If your primary goals include proven tone & dependability with simplicity, then 800RB. The Eden is (to my ears) a bit nicer all the way around, but I question construction quality & customer service. Members Bryan316
I'd recommend the Eden. It's so dead simple to record great tone straight from the amp into your computer or mixing console. Best DI tone out there. What cabs would you run with these amps? If you find an Eden 212XLT, you're golden.

With the Eden,
Members T. Alan Smith
Oh, and you asked about specific tone differences. Someone can come along and correct me, but to my ears, the Eden has a more 3D sound to it. Of course, in a rock type situation, much of that will get lost. If your not as familiar with the Eden tone, I feel it's something worth experiencing. It's been a coveted tone since the early 90's for a reason. I'd still want the 800RB for a backup tho. Members chubrocker
T. Alan, your comment earlier about reliability is a good one. It appears from reviews and other research that there are some issues---e.g. buzzing. It's '99 model. I know Eden's are highly "coveted" but there's always the fear factor of trying the unknown. I need to research who in KC sells Eden. Maybe Funky Munky Music.

Members EZ3X3
I use a 800rb, and love it, if I were to get a different head I'd go with the 1001rb. The only thing I don't like about the 800rb, is IMHO it lacks a little bottom, but I get the job done.
