Members db.
I'm always a bit wary when buying new gear, especially amps and guitars, online because you never can be sure if your gear will be up to snuff. We all know of GC, Musician's Friend, and such. But are there any other better and probably less-known online music stores to buy new gear? Thanks for any advice! Cheers. Members collinwho
Sweetwater. They may not always have the cheapest prices, but they are generally competitive, and the customer service is unmatched.
Members Goofball Jones
Heard good things about zzounds also. Haven't tried there yet, but they're prices are pretty good and if nothing else, it's a place you can point other stores to to match their price. Members jpark
zzounds, sweetwater, music123, musciansfriend or american musical. I use any of those, depending on who has the lowest price at the moment. I tend to favor american musical for large purchase due to there 3 payment plan. Members flatcat
I've bought things from 8thstreet.com, daddys.com, musician's friend, american musical supply, zzounds, and music123; plus of course eBay. I've bought from Mercenary Audio in person, though that I remember, I placed the order on line (and that was a GREAT place to buy gear). I had good luck with all those. I wouldn't buy guitar picks from Sweetwater. I don't have anything at all nice to say about them.
Members Hotblack
I've had good experiences with all of the above. However, I'm sure that others have horror stories. To avail your fears, I would find out what sort of protection your credit/debit card provides for online purchases.

I bought a turd of a 5150 from there one time, but I wouldn't blame the store. Great guys, and their selection has only gotten better since I was last there. Members Incubitabus
I bought a turd of a 5150 from there one time, but I wouldn't blame the store. Great guys, and their selection has only gotten better since I was last there. Was that when Richard was still running it? I worked there during my last year of college, and witnessed the change over from Richard to Greg and Danny. They just went much higher-line than Rich, and took the whole business online. Richard was avoiding online sales like the plague...
Members Ender_rpm
I use AMS most of the time. MF and 123 are all part of the GC machine. Never dealt with sweetwater, ave to give them a shot.
Members flatcat
I think one of the best places to buy gear in greater Boston is Boston Guitar Works, down in Brockton. That place is just....wow. You can buy from them online too.
Members swedishcubsfan
I have had a bad experience with the music123 customer service, so I have stopped using them. Sweetwater is very good, and I love Musiciansfriend's large scratch n dent section.

Members rpsands
The only one with customer service worth a {censored} is Sweetwater. Their prices are a tiny bit higher but I would wager they'd match most things.
