Members lokidecat
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/972793116.html I'm not really a pro here, but $650 sounds not too bad for this: SVT 400T & 410HE. thoughts? comments? snark? EDIT: and while I'm at it: WTF?
Members Flogger59
Dunno about the value of the Ampeg rig, but the WTF bass looks like 60's Japanese that someome sunk Schallers into.
Members rpsands
400Ts are fairly quiet, to be honest. It's a parallel 200 watts per side, bridgeable but only into an 8 ohm cab with a banana plug adapter. They sure sound nice, but are awfully quiet. About the same volume per side as a B2R. 650 is borderline ripoff for that rig - Definitely not a great craigslist deal. Adequate maybe. There's a 400T in a pawn shop near here for 200 bucks, and I wouldn't buy an SVT-410HE for near 650 new unless it were made out of rainbows and unicorn horns. I'd suggest 500 as a fair starting point. But also double check every point on that amp - The graphic EQ activation switch has been out on two different ones I've tried. I'd suggest that running two 4 ohm cabs with that thing would be better, also.
Members georgestrings
I think for that money, you can do far better - you're sure to be dissapointed with that combination... - georgestrings
Members mlwarriner
i wouldn't, but that's because i don't like ampeg amps. especially not their SS stuff. i'd say he's high, probably closer to the $500 mentioned above.
Members rsm777
If you'd consider ADA for bass, PM me. IMO, with the ADA bass rig, you can get close to any tone you want, and nail many of them. Many of the factory presets are very good, and simply need tweaking due to your particular bass and room. I spent a small fortune back in the '80s and early '90s trying to get great tone and flexibility - and the ADA bass rig gave me both at a good price point (compared to the Trace Elliot, SWR, Hartke, Ampeg, and whatever else I tried back then). I still wanted the Trace Elliot which is what I use now (vintage Trace Elliot preamp). Depending on what you are looking for, I think Trace Elliot prior to whoever bought them, is my favorite closely / nearly tied with my ADA. Using just the ADA MB-1 preamp was good, but it took the full ADA bi-amp rig to get the best out of it. (SPAM: selling my ADA bass rig, I purchased it new in '93 or thereabouts. listed on Atlanta craigslist). Peace.

Members rpsands
In thinking about it, I'd offer him 200 for just the amp, if:1) you like solid state ampegs2) you have two 4 ohm cabs of your own to run, or have a desire to go this way. He probably has way too much into that cab to let it go for a price that isn't ridiculous. Two nice 1x15s would probably sound great with that amp, or 1x12s perhaps.
