Members HaPpYfAcE
don't play. however...if i were going to play a priest solo, i'd choose undead and go shadow/discipline.
Members lokidecat
I play on a free indy server. Don't play enough to warrant the $14.95/mo. I prefer a alliance human warrior, myself. But that's me.

Don't play enough to warrant the $14.95/mo. i'm done playing myself, so i don't have to pay anymore, lol. private servers are against the blizz terms of use, though, so you will have to watch out for your server to be pwnz0rd by their lawyers. i've been hearing of cease and desist orders going around to various private servers. I honestly haven't logged on in about a month and a half. I work full time and got to school full time. between the two i have zero time off, really. /sigh
Members Mytola
Race really just depend on what you want your avatar to look like. As for build, you'll be best off if you go for shadow when leveling up.

Members Goofball Jones
Want something easy to play? Play a rogue. Learn all you can about stealth and sneaking up on your target....like always staying behind it. Rogues hit hard, have lots of escape moves and honestly not that many abilities that you have to wrestle with. Priests are okay, but I never got into the healing classes. My wife loves healing classes though, so try them out. And any class can solo in this game. So fool around with it, try different classes and just have fun. It's a game. DRF, if you want some help getting into the game and having people to play with, shoot me a PM or AIM message and I can give you my server info and you'll be welcome to join my guild and have some people to talk to As far as specifics to you making a priest; Shadow tree is the way to go for soloing. It make take you awhile to get used to how to play it without dying if you're not familiar with RPG's, though. Each race has certain abilities that can help some classes more than others. Personally, I think undead (horde) and human (alliance) priests make the most sense.
Members Psilocybin
If you insist on playing a priest, stay on a PvE realm. As a priest, you will get steamrolled by players of equal skill in PvP.

Members Psilocybin
You mean to tell me a priest stands a chance vs a halfway decently geared/played rogue, ret paladin, death knight, hunter, or mage? For a first character in WoW, I'd suggest getting familiar with the game by playing one of the classes I mentioned. Unless you spec shadow, leveling a priest involves a lot of sitting around gathering the mana you just used to kill stuff. Even then, there is still plenty of downtime. Well I WAS just giving you {censored}, but yes, all classes only have 1 or 2 other classes they REALLY have trouble against. Except Paladins; {censored}ing everyone has a hard time against those {censored} heads. And I believe I DID say Shadow spec It's really the only option for leveling. But that requires sitting around waiting for mana too Doesn't matter what class you start off with, imo, you learn to play it all the same. Members Psilocybin
Doesn't matter what class you start off with, imo, you learn to play it all the same. That is true. You will learn how the questing/leveling systems work with any class. On a pve realm you will probably have fun with any class. From a pure PvE standpoint, every class has its uses. Of course, melee always has and will probably continue to scale better than casters as higher end armor/weapons are introduced.

I think of it the other way around. I think the non-melee and cloth classes get exponentially better the higher level you get with better gear. Classes like warriors or rogues seem to have a steady slope for how good the damage/abilities/ease of leveling is. This is why I just tell people to do what they want. There are too many variables, too many ways to think about it, and it always comes back to individual playability. It's just a game.

I play a Priest on a PVP server and I do just fine. I also play a hunter, so I'm plenty familiar with the plague that rogues are.
