I think I might wait before I buy any amps and check that out with my URB when it comes out - Looks pretty interesting.

Eve played the 2x8 combo already. She was one of the artists that it was loaned to for development. She can tell you a bit about it if interested.

?!? Where do I sign?

Step One: Stop sucking.

:p

Her services were needed as an URB player that uses an amp. The engineer wanted an amp that would do well at both URB and electric. It's final tone came about with the target being more upright oriented than for electric. There was talk of even putting an XLR jack on it for a mic/piezo pickup at one point.

There's a guy who will be producing an ABG that is modelled very closely off Ernie Ball Earthwood's. What he's trying to do is kinda "rebirthing" the Earthwood, and to bring something back on the market that fills that void - ie. a BIG bodied ABG that sounds good acoustically and can actually be useful unamplified. The new bass will have some updates and improvements (things like better bracing to avoid the bellied tops EBEW's were notorious for, and possibly a graphite neck option). He is also trying to be able to offer them at a reasonable price - not necessarily dirt-cheap, but considerably less than boutique-expensive.

It is NOT in production yet. The guy will be at NAMM with a couple of prototypes and is meeting with various manufacturers (mostly overseas) to lock up a contract and start getting them made. There IS a possibility of getting limited one-offs made through him before they go into official production, but this will of course be more expensive.

I only know about some fender stuff...

The Fender roadworn series will be introduced as more affordable reliced instruments. They'll be made in Mexico.

Fender will also make maple fretboards available on the MIM line, along with tinted neck finishes, new body finishes, nicer pickguards and a 70's headstock logo. This will all be on the MIM Standard instruments.
