Members NeonVomit
What type of music do you play/what sort of requirements do you have (live/studio/big-small venues etc.)
Members braindump26
music stoner rock/metal like sabbath but downtuned and with epic fuzz. Venue:well in the area there are a couple small to midsize places that are diy so no pa. i know i don't need some crazy 1k watt amp. But even if this band falls through like so many before i'd like to have a gig ready rig for bass.

Members fretless
SVT or a GK 800rb through a used 8x10 or 4x10 , the more beat looking the better but yeah a 2x15 will move some air
Members braindump26
so a 2x15 and a 4x10 might be a good way to go. Guitar is a lot simpler when it comes to cabs its either 2,4,or 6x12
Members fretless
so a 2x15 and a 4x10 might be a good way to go. Guitar is a lot simpler when it comes to cabs its either 2,4,or 6x12 a single 4x10 is enough for me a , and for years I used a single 18 a 2x15 would surely do the trick . You need to match the load to the amp , most 2x15's are 4 ohm some are 8 though and most 4x10's are 8 ohm but some are 4 but see what the amp you want runs at , few are 2 ohm stable . Members Optimus Prime
You need a MicroPOG.
Members burdizzos
Budget? Personally, I'd go for the new Peavey Tour series stuff for a rig of doom on a budget. Tour 700 - $560Tour 410 - $700 Just slightly more than the Eden head by itself and infinitely more reliable. It's also a very good sounding rig. You can expand that by adding another 410 if needed. Members braindump26
I've never tried one of those. Is there a reason why the micro and not the regular pog

Members braindump26
for a budget i should probably stay below 3k for all of it
Members Poltergeist
a 2x15 will push a load of air. but probably not be very clear, so you need that as well, i'd recommend a 6x10 ou an 8x10. for that kinda music.... well...... an old Sunn amp or a vintage Ampeg SVT would probably be the best choices..... but i'd say Sunn that would be the sex they're exactly what you're looking for... very dirty, growly, but clear tone. Members braindump26
on the ampegs should i go for vintage svt if i can get a hold of one or is there not much difference. and I'm assuming for sunn you mean tube like 300t not the solid state concert or coliseum. Moderators Kindness Posted January 2, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 2, 2009 on the ampegs should i go for vintage svt if i can get a hold of one or is there not much difference. There is a difference, whether it matters is another story. I have one from '79 and wouldn't trade it for a recent one.
Members LanEvo
music stoner rock/metal like sabbath but downtuned and with epic fuzz.Used Gallien-Krueger 800RB head (around $350) powering a used SWR Henry The 8x8 cab (around $500). As for the Henry cab, try to find a pre-Fender version with Celestion speakers. This rig should give you an SVT-ish tone for less money and with easier portability. As for the bass, that's too personal a choice. Can't go wrong with a P-Bass I suppose.
Members braindump26
Found a fender bassman 300 for a good price and they seem to be the same as the sunn 300t. so unless there is a history of problems with these i think i might go get it. now i just need to find a better bass and pick a cab
