Members RSBro
The Low End has a pretty slick tobacco burst one from a few years ago. Great player's price too! The H-C reviews are actually surprisingly good. Anyone use/gig with one regularly? I can honestly say it's one style of bass I've never really tried/played, but it looks awesome and I know they sound amazing with the guys who use them (guy from Helmet and Vince Hornsby from Sevendust). Members greenshag
never been a big fan of Gibson basses for the most part, too many action/intonation issues coming out of the factory. I did see the bass player from Ministry play an ESP Les Paul bass that absolutely killed! I believe it was the EC-404 model with EMG's
Members ezstep
A friend of mine had one back in the 80's. He could never get a sound he liked, but that could have come from his amp and not his bass. (He played in a church and didn't put money into a good rig.) I am a firm believer that even a crappy bass can be made to sound quite good, with all the preamps, filters, f/x, and speaker combinations available today. I do remember that it was heavy as hell...much heaver than his MIA Fender Jazz. He is the only person I ever knew who had one.
Members RSBro
^^^ Yeah I've seen those as well and there's actually one on the 'Bay as we speak! The only reason I'm considering this particular LP is I know who previously owned it and they're the bassist for a major country act and now has a Sadowsky deal so I'm guessing is cleaning out his closet so to speak. Plus Brian said it's a pretty sweet player, so I wasn't as hesitant as I'd usually be.
Members Goofball Jones
Wow, that's actually nice looking! Wonder what it sounds like. Oh, this guy played a short scale, 6 string version of this bass:

So far as the Gibsons, the only one I really fell in love with was an old 70's Les Paul Recording Bass one of my friends has. Damn that thing was sweet. The rest were okay but nothing special IMO. Members bluedogaudio
I tried one in the 90s when MeShell first came out and I absolutely loved it. The tone and how it played were awesome! The only issues I had with it were the price and the weight. Oh, I tried a few Epiphones, and they were all awful.
Members Goofball Jones
Don't insult me with a sloppy player like that!! Hey, let's see YOU get up on stage half blitzed out of your mind on smack and Jack Daniels and play something. But seriously, I'd consider this bass also. For on you don't see many of them out there and it IS quite eye catching. I'd have to hear it though and play it to get a feel for it, because every Gibby bass I've tried out just didn't do it for me.

It's just never revered as "genius"... Yeah that's why I'm seriously testing the waters. It's from a reputable place that does people right and I really do like the vibe of it. Members greenshag
The MSRP is $929, and they were being sold for $649, so depending on the condition, not that competitive.

Members burnthiscorpse
I never met a les paul bass i didnt like. especially the ones like your talking. the ones with the 3-way switch that look like a "real" LP. the others are nice though too. I would personally opt for one from the 90's. they will have that same sound that thunderbirds are known for. I played a handful of mid 90's ones and they were very similar to my 90' thunderbird i had at the time. same sounding, if not exactly the same pups used. great necks, if you like gibson bass necks:thu: . i was looking at that one you have the pic of on e-bay or its twin if thats not the one. I thought it was a bit steep though.

Members DevilRaysFan
I never met a les paul bass i didnt like. . Ever try one of these? Stanky ass with bass strings....Scalewise, its pretty much a guitar that some hippie thought would be a good bass design (typical of guitar luthiers that know nothing about bass) Like early BC Rich basses, it has sixteen million variations of fart...unlike the early BC Richs, the BC Rich actually had about three useable ones............ They are worth thousands of dollars to vintage guitar collectors: Proof positive that instrument collecting and instrument playing are two completely different animals

Members bassred
I fell in love with a Les Paul 5 string years back (shortly after Meshell Nedgdawhatever was on MTV with Mellencamp {great song/bassline BTW}) It wasn't versatile enough though, I needed something I could slap and it felt way too sloppy to me, but it sounded great for fingerstyle and good ol' thumpin'... I love the look of the Les Paul, Ive had a few LP guitars (Currently just have my old White Epiphone Custom) , just wish the bass felt a little different, would love ot have one in the collection now, though... A friend of mine endorses Gibson basses, he has nine custom shop LP basses with the switch, all loaded with Bartolini HB's. Ungodly rock tone. Just crushing, especially when tuned to Drop A,
Members fingeringam
Here's the linky for the eBay one, which is new- Not sure how price-competitive it is, though. Did you buy it?!
