Members s4001
A guy was there from New Zealand trying some 5'vers today. He was looking for something to accompany his Stingray 5. Tried some of the Warwicks and Schecters. To be expected, he didn't find anything he liked better than a Stingray. They had a Carvin Tim Schmidt bass. That thing was a gem. I've seen some negative reviews of them because they are a passive bass, but sounded and played stellar to me. It only had one knob: volume. You have to be real happy with a bright, punchy Jazz tone to dig it. Fortunately, I did. I tried a few of the Mark Bass rigs. They were very boomy and low-end heavy. A little too much for my taste, but they would work great for a lot of situations. Price tags seemed a little high to me for the sound they put out. YMMV. Members y-o-y
I went to Sam Ash in Cerritos today and fell in love with a Spector ReBop 5er I think I was the first person in the store at 10:15...no one said word one to me and I had the run of the whole place and didn't hear a single crappily executed guitar riff at ear shattering volume the whole time I was there
Members s4001
The wankery at the Sam Ash is indeed repulsive. Don't know what it is with that place.
