I'm helping my brother move all day Saturday (in Austin).

If I didn't have to be back here Sunday AM I'd totally be down, but unfortunately I'll be with my parents and only taking one car and will be tired as hell when we get done.

But I may not come back Sunday, possibly. I will let you guys know for sure.

Any particular shows shows you have in mind?

I'll be working on Saturday, but I checked the listings and saw a few interesting shows with local bands you might find interesting, depending on your taste in music.

There's a pretty good metal(ish) show on Friday at Red 7 w/ Lions of Tsavo, Magic Jewels, {censored}ty Carwash, Daniel Francis Doyle, and Vitamins. DFD is pretty damn amazing live, and LoT is probably the best local metal act at the moment.

Antone's has some of it's usual Texas blues heavy hitters playing as well, particularly Gary Clark Jr.

As for what else to do, snag some fatty, moist brisket at Green Mesquite, walk it off on the Hike and Bike trail, shop at Waterloo Records (the best record store in the country), check out the UT campus...just depends on what you like to see in a town. If you have any preferences let me know and I'll see if I have any suggestions. Enjoy your visit to our town. The weather's been pretty spastic (80 one day, 40 the next) so you might want to bring both a jacket and shorts!

Go to Bass Emporium.

We stopped into the Bass Emporium on Saturday afternoon. It was a lot smaller than I was expecting; just a storefront with about 40 basses on the walls on one side and amps on the other. They had a nice '64 Jazz reissue relic that felt like butter. Lots of Music Man basses, Spectors, Elrick and Laklands. They had a Ritter up on the wall too. Not much vintage stuff at all, though. Only stayed for a half hour or so, I was with my wife and brother and could tell they were getting bored. Other than that, Austin was really cool. Went down to 6th street on Saturday night and went to about 8 different bars all with live music. Great bands at every stop and no covers! That place gets crazy after midnight; looked like a mini bourbon street. Relaxed and ate good BBQ the rest of the time and enjoyed the nice weather - mid 60s and sunny everyday. :thu:

Yeah we had a pretty awesome time. Sucked coming back to negative temps. The food is awesome. I've never had real Texas BBQ before. My aunt kept asking me if we were going clubbing, and I kept telling her NO, we do not club. I guess clubbing here in Chicago is different then clubbing down there. Clubbing up here means going to cheesy house music clubs and dancing all night. I guess in Austin it means hitting up the fun blues bars and rock clubs.
