Measuring pickup output?

Super Bass

I'm trying to get a reading for the resistance on the pickup in my latest bass. I know one half of the pickup is half dead (E&A) but I'm trying to see if I can find what the output is for the other half thats working correctly so I can get a replacement made close to this spec.

Anyone care to help?

I've got 5 wires in total coming from the one pickup. An orange one, a red one, a black, a blue and a bare one. Probably makes no sense whatsoever but if you can decipher what the hell I'm taking about and help I'd appreciate it.:facepalm:

Oh, I don't need to know where to get one. The only people who can make the replacements are Kent Armstrong and his son Aaron. I'm planning to get Aaron to make me one. I just need to find out the output.
:)

Send the pickup to him and let him sort it out. I was going to suggest sending it to Larry Pollack at Aero and he'd be able to recreate it as well.

Hmm... yeah maybe. He won't be able to fix it but at least he'll be able to get an accurate reading. The problem with them is that the pickup is filled with epoxy inside and as some of them age this cracks and damages the pickup. They're impossible to repair. :(

Sometimes it's possible to dissolve the potting to get to the guts. Then it can be unwound and rewound with the same gauge and turns. At any rate, measuring the output won't tell you anything. Another who can help is Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe Guitars.

As for the five wires, there are two for each half with the bare wire being ground/shield.
