Members GRANKOR
I need to tune to drop B tuning for my new band, finall got round to buying some strings for it. I have gauges .060, .070, .095 and .125. The higher strings are the low 3 from a light set and I bought the B string seperately. Will it be safe on the neck to tune up the lighter strings 1 tone from what they're meant to be tuned to? I'll be doing it to my MIM P Bass

Moderators Kindness Posted January 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2009 As long as the neck is strong enough it's fine. We won't know if the neck is strong enough until you try. If it holds a steady relief, then you're fine. If it is too much tension, the neck will continue to bow no matter how much you try to correct it with the truss rod. If I were to guess, I'd say you should be fine.
