Members Mr.Mow
I'm currently using my Ampeg BA115 'amp' as a speaker cab for my valve head, its a good solid cabinet, but seems to be a bit boomy, not to mention the piezo is a buzzy piece of platic crap.. So.. I'm thinking of putting a new 15" in it and maybe a new piezo (am open to suggestions, currently its just disconnected). What would people recommend as a replacement drop in speaker, something really efficient would be nice as I'm running my 18w 'Marshall' guitar head through it. And by drop in, I'm hoping for plug and play!
Members huben94
Hey, I would try a couple of mod first, maybe upgrade the wiring, add some insulation. Maybe add a capicitor to the tweeter or a adjustable treble control. Also I would disassemble to check it out, maybe theres some other issue. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions on speaker replacement, because changing the speaker would with other than a stock replacement would suggest the replacement speaker is not designed for the cabinet, unless all the specs are the same. Members rpsands
My suggestion is to save your money on a replacement speaker (like 150 bucks for anything decent) and trade that plus the combo for something that doesn't suck ass. Today is just my day for bagging on the bullshit Ampeg tries to sell us as "high end" combo amps I guess

The amp head itself is crap though.. hissy as fuck..
