Members xbassman
I know Carvin doesn't get much love around here, but I'm surprised nobody's talkin' about this on. I have never used any Carvin gear but look at the specs and the price! (not to mention 2 ohm stable and a tube pre that can be switched in and out) - RMS 8 Ohms: 300w, RMS 4 Ohms: 500w, RMS 2 Ohms: limited - 8 ohms Dynamic Peak: 600w - 4 ohms Dynamic Peak: 1000w - Output Mode: D-TECH
Members kaiser_sosea
do want...... to compare with my NeoPak as I'm quite smitten with it but i've heard really great things about the Carvin heads the last couple years

Members xbassman
I have been really interested in getting an ultralight head and this was listed @ $500. Now @ $400 it is almost too much to resist. It's too bad they don't list the wattage @ 2 ohms. I saw a chart following a link from TB that made it appear that it would be stronger than 500W since it doesn't begin ramping down voltage until less than 2.66 ohms. I am not an engineer though so I could be wrong though.

Members no-logic
I had a Carvin years ago which sounded like a POS. But lately most of the talk is positive. I wouldn't mind trying one of these for my practice rig.

I am sure it would have enough headroom for me as well. I am only pushing 200W @ 8ohms right now, but I am waiting on a 4 ohm cab to arrive, so 2 ohm operation is a plus. The only fairly light heads I have seen that handle 2 ohms are Edens. These things start shipping at the end of the month.I think I'll wait for some reviews to come in. Members burnthiscorpse
15 years ago i flipped the cash for a R600 head, carvin 410 and 118. boy was that a mistake. with every knob dimed i couldnt come close to hearing myself in a band situation. Burned me on carvin forever. I still get catalogs though, and i have wondered about the B1500 since it came out. I wont buy one. But i wouldnt mind playing one. Members ccreddell
Theres a nasty rumor going around that the BX500 will fit into a PB200 combo. That could make for a sweet set-up. Especially for all theose PB200s that have died out there.

Still waiting for reviews though, don't think anybody actually has one yet. this amp looks really good on paper and is equipped with everything I like in a bass amp it has more than enough wattage for me. All I really need is enough stage volume to cut through the mix and a direct out to plug in to the break out box. the faster and lighter I can load in and out while taking up less trailer space the better:thu:
Members JeffBass
They don't ship until the end of January so nobody has one to review yet!! Members xbassman
Well... I fell off the wagon and ordered one of the combos today. I ordered the BR515N with the 15" Neo. (40 lbs. ) I got it and the foot switch for $670. What got me is the fact that the combo is really an airhead with the amp mounted with rack ears, so I will be able to use it with any speaker combination I want. Members xbassman
Gutsy move. Looking forward to your review. I gotta feeling that guys @ TB will give a review before I do. I go in for knee surgery on 2-9 so it will be a few weeks after that before I can give it a good workout. They said it would ship in about a week though... Now if only Marc would ship out my 2460D DR Bass cab.

Members xbassman
Wooo nice DB cab there. Just got done looking at it. Did you order the 8 ohm version or 4 ohm version? I bet the head with the DB 2460 standalone will sound great. I ordered the 4 ohm back in Sept. It is in a log jam of cabs waiting on Marc to get crossovers for. When everything gets here I will have my 112 8 ohm, 2460D 4 ohm and the 8 ohm 115 airhead to run with it. The Carvin combo is 20 3/4" wide just like the DR B's so everything should stack well. Also if it turns out I hate the head my GBE 400 can power all of the cabs and fit in the airhead as well.
