Members Gregidon
... on the neck? I once heard a bassist say if you play above the 12th fret you're a wanna be guitarist... i now think that's a dumb thought....
Members s4001
If you play the notes you hear in your head without consideration of the fretboard, then you're a musician.

Killjoy. :poke: Probably second fret---so in position to play an E major scale/A minor scale, also Db off the pinky or B minor off the pointer finger. That and up at the fifth, in position more or less for A major or minor, etc.. That's where most of what I'm wantin' is found. I believe Jamerson spent the vast amount of his time down in first and second position (around first and second fret). You can hear him "goin' 'round the horn" so to speak, often, picking up runs back around on the E rather than ascending up the neck.

Members willsellout
I play whatever sounds best. Sometimes I want a fatter high end so I have to move up the neck on the EA strings.

Members rpsands
I like 5th position. Lots. A was my favorite key for a long time. Now that I've got a 5er it's gonna be E! hurr.
