Members Funkee1
Since I already did a thread on club bangers, lets focus on jangly guitar pop! What song from what they used to call alternative, but now seems to be the mainstream really resonated with you? Now to qualify for this thread, the song must be by a shaggy headed band, or a Lilith Fair type chick, must feature Either, an acoustic guitar, or Electric guitars with a lot of U2 type effects, or a piano. It may also include really earnest lyrics. It can be danceable, but that cannot be the point, so Katy Perry is out! Post- em! My fave (and I know I've posted this before...) was this one!
Members catphish
This is not the intended spirit of this thread, but everytime I hear this song i want to put a power drill to my forehead.

Members Renfield
What about a song that was released in 2007, but I didn't discover it until 2008, and it was released as an EP single with some B-sides in 2008? If so, then I give you Maximum The Hormone. I am totally hooked on this band ATM. For me, I don't listen to the radio. Sooo, my view is probably invalid. However, I'm playing gig Jan 23rd with a local guy and I really really like him. Dave Simpson. He's the one in the white. His voice is like butterscotch. This isn't the best representation of him, but you get the point.
Members mlwarriner
pretty much anything from Appeal to Reason by Rise Against.
Members Renfield
pretty much anything from Appeal to Reason by Rise Against. As much as I want to agree and was going to say that myself, I just can't. The album only has about 5 different songs on it, if that. It's SO repetitive sounding. I love them like few others, I want it to be the second coming, but it sounds too rushed to my ears, far too formulaic. Heck, 4 songs are the exact same length down to the second, and another is only 1 secodn off from that. It went from amazing to tiresome very fast. Members Renfield
maybe i just haven't spun it enough yet, but i'm not tired of it so far...YMMV. Believe me, I want to worship it. And if I turn it off or skip songs that make me think it's on repeat, then it is still a genius album. Most bands wish they could pull off even some of RA's amazingness in their careers, let alone on so many tracks every album. My fav tracks so far are Saviour and The Dirt Whispered. I loved Hero of War too, but I stupidly used it at work for some listening tests and wore myself out on it for now.
Members brake
So far this week I haven't listened to any music made in the past 30 years except for Van Halen, so I can't really answer this one

Members Funkee1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9kQrt9tPugYeah! Both of those make the cut! I really dig the Gavin DeGraw tune too! This is another one I dig. I dismissed this as cheesy chick pop, but the more I listen to it (it's on the background music at Walley World), the more I like it! Also the fact that it's a big F?U to her record label.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR5xv3pt7KI
Members Death Hands
Nope. Nothing in 08 of interest. Didn't buy one new release, didn't find anything on MTV worth hearing. hit me so hard that I figured I'd mention it. 07 though. I still cry every time I hear it. MM is a biggy for me. That sound, that song, though... it's great, I think.
