Members pjmburg
I'm looking for a creative, useful way to get more sounds out of my P/J Ibanez Roadster (fomally belonging to Death Hands ). Right now it's set up with a passive tone pot, a passive volume pot, and a Les Paul-style 3-way pickup switch. There are two unused knobs formally used for the defunct pre-amp, that I'd like to use some how, and a little switch that turned the pre-amp on presumably (some arse-hole disconnected it and I have no idea how to put it back together ). I was thinking of setting it up with seperate volume and tone for each pickup (ala Les Paul) but I'm open to any (realtively inexpensive) suggestions. Members hi.flyer
Yea, LP style is how the passive Roadsters are wired. That'd be good.
Members bassman1956
My Epi's have the LP-style 2 volumes and 2 tones, with a 3-way switch. I have to say, having 2 tones is close to useless, because the tones bleed over between the 2, and affect both. So do the volumes, to some extent. The way they were originally wired, it was like having 1 volume with 2 knobs. Still, not as handy as one would expect. For your PJ, I'd go for at least V-B-T or V-V-T. Moderators ThudMaker Posted January 15, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 15, 2009 Put a chorus pedal's innards in there. 1 knob for the rate, one knob for the depth and use the switch to turn it on or off.

Actually, you know what? That's a damn good idea. It already has a battery compartment and everything! Members solderjunkie
vol/vol/tone/tone with a series switch... in series, bypass all the internals straight-to-jack. Like nitrous oxide for a bass:thu:
Members One Bad Monkey
I did this one with mine, and with the way it's wired, I don't think there's as much bleed from tone pot to tone pot (although I could be mistaken). If anything, I may put a couple switches in there to fiddle with different caps to see what that does.
Members Apendecto
You could always drop a Black Ice into one or all pickups. I've got a thread about it somewhere but I've got to get back to work. D'oh. Yo.
Members bassman1956
I am considering the Ric set-up to rewire one of my Epi's, and find if it does anything.

Souds like a good idea, but I'm a broke-ass high school student, so anything more expensive than a few pots and caps is too much. What is the tone knob bleed problem you guys are talking about? I'm decent at following diagrams, but I don't really know what I'm doing, so bear with me here.
