Members burnthiscorpse Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 one of my new origional projects is very .....well, i guess if you took Johhny cash, Hank jr. and put them in a band with the dudes from Skynard, Clutch, and Motorhead, there ya go...was thinking of using my gibby for it to fit the vibe. but its gonna be Standard tuning 2 steps down....so C. any thoughts on how 110-50's tuned down to C standard would sound on a shorty? will be using a mix of that 68 svt growly sound and even more overdriven sound. think allen woody when he used alot of OD. I was debating selling it (yes allready) for a LP bass, or an SGZ if i could find one. to do it on a long scale.
Members Optimus Prime Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 I couldn't drop my E (.110) to D without it being way floppy when I had my short scale Gibson SG bass. You're going to have to do it on a long scale bass.
Members burnthiscorpse Posted January 15, 2009 Author Members Posted January 15, 2009 hmmm really? I just took the 100 flats off and put 105's on for Eb standard and its not too bad. I admit i could use a touch more tension. But its not that bad. I thought for sure 110's would do the trick. well that sucks. Good thing i just put it in the classifieds.
Members BigPigPeaches Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Put on 130's and retune it as BEAD or CADG...I'm not saying it'll work, but it's worth a try before you sell it.

Members hi.flyer Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Cop the full-scale Epi version, if that's an option.
Members NeonVomit Posted January 16, 2009 Members Posted January 16, 2009 The full-scale Epi version is nice except for the nnnnneck ddddivee....
Members burnthiscorpse Posted January 16, 2009 Author Members Posted January 16, 2009 i never really had a problem dealing with neckdive. i was thinking a high end epi LP 5 since i now found out tonight that we are gonna be in B standard now not C standard. I would still use a 4 though. my next thread was gonna be "how good quality are the more expensive epi LP basses " i dont really think the shorty is gonna work for this.
