Members Bluescout
I'm not joking or parodying. What do you black forumites think of Blazing Saddles and the use of the N word in it? I always laugh my ass off at that movie and it occurred to me tonight watching it on AMC that it was released 35 years ago, when discrimination was a much larger problem. Discuss. Members Goofball Jones
Considering it was co-written by Richard Pryor, and generally made fun of the whole racial prejudice thing, I can't see that they would, but who knows.

Members Roger in the sky
yeah i'm pretty sure that the whole point is that the racists are ignorant and should be riduculed/pitied rather than feared or respected. much like dave chappelle's "black white supremecist" routine

According to Brooks, Pryor didn't write many of Bart's lines. Pryor's favorite character to write dialogue for was Mongo.
Members bnyswonger
I'm not black, but the reason Blazing Saddles was so funny was it was offensive across the board - to about every ethnic and racial demographic imaginable. There was also nothing mean-spirited about it - it was all about satirizing stereotypes. Won't you stay for some more schnitzelgruben? No thanks, baby...I've had enough. It a classic. Members Brother Mango
I love that movie. My favorite is when Slim Pickens comes riding up on the horse. I hired you people to try get a little track laid; not to jump around like a bunch o' Kansas City fa**ots. Oh! And the line, "The sheriff is near."
