Yippee! We're playing two 90 minute sets.

Saturday, January 17, 2009: 10:00pm - 1:30am

Bannerman's Sports Grill

858 S. Route 59 (Sutton Road)

Bartlett, IL

This is a new venue for us. I'm a little leery though. It's supposed to be a big place but we have to bring our PA. It's either gonna be a great show or a trainwreck. After one rehearsal with our IEM setup, we're gonna try 'em out at this gig.

yep.
:(

When are you guys getting into the city?

We're trying but can't find a place that will have us.

:(

I'm getting there really early to meet with our engineer. We were having noise (a "whooshing" sound) issues with my setup: Boss > Wireless > Boss GT-10B > IEM Mixer. The Boss puts out a line-level signal. I think he's going to drop a DI in between it and the mixer to bring the signal to mic level. He thinks it's a gain structure issue.

I'm really nervous (and excited) about trying the IEM setup.

I'm sure there are TONS of places that will have you, I think you guys are probably more selective about gig conditions than most bands. In Chicago there are a gazillion bands who will play for free, or worse.

What about that horse shoe place?

I think Katie has checked with them. We've also tried to get into Joe's with no luck. We're not overly picky (I don't think). We are at a point where we're not playing for free unless it's a charity event. We're doing a gig this Spring for St. Jude's.

I've been there a few times. It is big, my one friend's band sounded real good with a sub + 115 (two-way) on each side. They did well and the big dance floor was rockin.

The other band sounded kinda boxy without subs. They were loud enough but it wasn't balanced quite right. Lacked fullness.

What's your IEM setup consist of?

Shure PSM400 (5 wireless/2 wired)

Allen & Heath WZ3 12M Monitor Mixer

Shure E5 Earbuds

Submixer for drums

Patch snakes

Road ready rack case

Shouldn't a club that size have it's own PA?!? We'll have two JBL 18" subs plus either our JBL 12" tops or our engineer's EA 15" tops. We'll have plenty of power for them.

That's the thing, the bar hired a guy on a Saturday night and he brought in the good PA with sub setup. At the time they used to have a house PA guy on Saturday nights, or so I was told. My other friend's band was there on a Friday night and they brought their own PA, which lacked the subs. Gotta have subs in a room that size.

Sounds like your PA will do just fine, especially if your engineer is there making adjustments. I imagine the EA's push a bit more sound than the JBL's, might consider using those because you can always turn down.

Sorry Jeff.

When I took the pup out at 8, there was some new fluffy stuff. When I jumped in the shower at 9, there were a few flakes in the air.

Well, I got as far as the west entrance to the lab at Pine & Kirk, and quit. It was snowing like all get-out, the wind was gusting it sideways, there were slippery patches on the road, and visibility sucked. So I came home.

Hope you have / had a kickass show!
