Fender Aerodyne Bass..any good?

I mainly play guitar, but thought about picking up a Bass to tinker with since my cousin decided to. I ran across a deal on one of these, but I'd like some opinions before I buy. I did notice it has the 7 1/4" radius, which I don't like on guitar, but may not be a big deal on bass.

Thanks

I liked it's "playability", but the one they had in the GC I went to had the tone knob wobbling, ready to fall off & inoperable so I really didn't get to hear what it sounded like. Also, I play impulsively/sporatically so I keep my bass on a stand and I'm like a "grab it when I walk by and play for a while and set it back down" kind of guy. The one I was playing in GC was absolutely LOADED with smudges and fingerprints (black finish) and I could see mine looking like that most of the time, but that's just me.

BTW, the Aerodyne was in that condition even though I talked to a sales guy at GC and he knew I was coming in that night to try one out.

I liked the Aerodyne very much....would buy one of a different color in a flash if it sounded as good as other reviews say it does.

I like mine but it's the only real fendr I've ever spent any time with, so take this with a grain o'salt.

Got it used on ebay. I'm mostly a budget-bass guy, but this was something I wanted for a long time and so finally bought one when I found a like-new piece at a good price. My first real Fenber bass.

I think that the fit and finish are very decent and it sounds daggum good to me. The body feels much different than a regular jazz -- thinner and lighter, yes, but notably it has no forearm cut. I really like the lightly-finished/satin neck, but that's a personal preference I guess. Fretwork is good, but I have had a devilish buzz in the saddle on the D string. Nice looking hardware but I don't like the feel of the steel knobs, a bit hard to micro adjust on the fly for me; I think it's their weight that makes them so different. The board radius is noticeable but hasn't been a problem for me, amateur that I yam.

The candy apple red is a very very deep red and almost looks brown from some angles in low light. The first photo below has some fill flash so it made the red a bit brighter compared to the other two, but it's not really fiesta red-like.
