Sorry 'bout the title. I was just trying to think of something catchier than "Audition Update". :D

I played two sets with a band on Saturday night, and it went rather well. I had learned a couple songs they hadn't played in a while, and I learned a few tunes right there on stage. They officially offered me the position on Sunday, and I've accepted.

It was the first time I got to play my Peavey Pro Bass 500 head through my Avatar 410, and I gotta say I'm really digging the new head. Great tone and plenty of volume. Another bassplayer played the first set and used my gear, so I was able to stand away from the stage to hear how it sounded, and it sounded good! The band likes my gear as well. Their former bassplayer played a cheap Squier P-Bass through a Peavey combo, and his overdriven tone was very unnatural. Plus, I heard one of his speakers was held together with Gorilla Glue.

A Rock Cover band that is more straightforward Rock than I've played with any band before. Should be fun.

Thanks, guys. It was all good except for the stupid fight that broke out for unknown reasons...

The guy who played the first set is actually the drummer's Dad who is apparently a great guitarist who occasionally fills in on bass. They played mostly Blues, but I dug some of the stuff he played, and some of the fills he played I couldn't necessarily do. He ended up complimenting my playing later on saying it was nice to hear a real bassplayer. That was nice to hear. :)

The singer and I have already started discussing some business. First, we need to update our promo kit. He also mentioned he'd like to come up with an "image" for the band. We'll probably have a website designed soon as well.

Speaking of websites, does anybody on HCBF design good websites for reasonable prices?

I design great websites, but I charge unreasonable prices. Also, you probably want a developer, not just a designer, but that is just me being nit-picky.

At least you're honest. :D What's the difference between developers and designers? I've kept websites for former bands updated, but I'm clueless when it comes to designing a cool website.

Technically, design is just design. As in, if I am designing for you, I will create a color scheme and layout and imagery. Actually writing the code so that it will display in a web browser, that is what a developer does. A lot of freelance designers can also do development, though, so you just want to make sure that you get one that can if you are going to hire someone.

I'm not really taking on freelance projects right now, that is why I charge unreasonable prices, but if you have basic questions while you search for someone to do a website for you, I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Thanks for the explanation.

I do know somebody who has done websites for a couple of my former bands. I think he charged $250 plus the cost of the template we bought from www.templatemonster.com .
