That's two #1's we've knocked off in the last 3 years. Here's hoping Duke is #1 when they come to our house in February.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted January 22, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 22, 2009 And Northwestern knocked off Michigan State last night, too. It was a great evening for college basketball.

Members Incubitabus
So is Tech going to make the Tournament this year? Yup. They just knocked off Miami 88-81 for a second straight road win. Hell yes!
Members burdizzos
Hmmm. It looks like Tech will have to win at least one game in the ACC tourney to get into the big dance, but I'm guessing they'll need to win two. Depending on how the conference tournaments play out, the possibility exists for the Big East to have three #1 Seeds. That {censored} is crazy. That {censored} is crazy. I think if OU wins the Big 12 tourney they'll get the other #1 seed over Pitino and Co. I think I'll be UNC (#1 overall), Pitt, OU and then UConn. Although Memphis deserves to be right there. yeah, they're C-USA, but once they're outside of conference they still whoop up.
Members burdizzos
UNC will have to win the ACC tournament and get some help to get #1 overall. Their SOS sucks and the ACC tourney won't help them in the RPI as much as the Big East tourney will help the top teams in the Big East. If Pitt, UConn or Louisville wins the Big East Tourney, they will be the #1 overall. Not that it really matters, UNC and OU don't need a top seed to get to the final four, Louisville does. Members RSBro
Dang, three Big East #1 Seeds! Memphis deserved the #1 over UConn, sorry. And no BS about the C-USA deal either. They consistently win in the tourney against the big teams/conferences. UConn is good and has some good Big East wins but they also got punched in the mouth by Pitt once and then lost to them on the road also. But it's all good- you know Calipari is playing the disrespect card and when they meet UConn in the Elite Eight, that is going to be a damn fine game! Members burdizzos
Yeah, I thought it was kind of {censored}ed up that they gave UConn the #1 over Memphis, but there will always be {censored}ed up picks. At least Memphis got the #2 in a bracket with the weakest of the #1 seeds.

At least Memphis got the #2 in a bracket with the weakest of the #1 seeds. Truth. At first glance I thought UNC had the easiest route to Detroit. But their final 4 bracket could be UNC, OU, 'Cuse and Gonzaga. With the way the Zags and Orange have been playing, those will be good games. Hansbrough/Griffin will be a good matchup but Roy will make someone else beat them, and they don't have the depth to take out UNC. Quite honestly I don't think anyone does. They don't lose any size when going to the bench which they will need if they meet a Louisville or Pitt (although I have them uspet!) in a Champ Game.
