Members Ender_rpm
So yeah, a few months back, I posted a Craigslist link where a guy was GIVING AWAY an old B15. T3ch ended up getting it, but said I had dibs if he didn't feel like getting it fixed. Well... So, after a new fuse, tube, a couple caps, a new speaker cable and plug, and a upgraded 3 prong plug and some other services, here she is Sounds awesome. Some grill rattle I'll have to tie down, but otherwise dead silent. Thick, meaty tones, sounds like a Motown record. May be loud enough to use with a drummer who can show restraint, but I have a feeling I'll end up using it mostly @ home for recording and such. I do need to clean the grime off of it, but what do you expect for a amp made in '65?

Members misterhinkydink
Nice!!! I can see it has the common power transformer failure. I bought this one for $80.00 with a bad PT.
Members Ender_rpm
How can you tell the PT is messed up? And how does one fix it?
Members fingeringam
Don't clean it. Let the mojo shine Sick score. How much did all the parts come to?
Members misterhinkydink
How can you tell the PT is messed up? And how does one fix it? The original power transformer was potted like the output transformer. I don't know if the potting caused them to overheat or it caused some other kind of failure. I assume yours is fine since it's working. The original-style potted replacement is about $200.00.
Members Ender_rpm
Total parts and labor was about $300, so it wasn't cheap, but the amp WAS free Good to know about the PT. Yeah, it seems to work fine, is there a tell tale symptom when they start to go bad?
