Members KASH Posted January 27, 2009 Members Posted January 27, 2009 Which one should I buy? Please advise.
Members GRANKOR Posted January 27, 2009 Members Posted January 27, 2009 the ashdown isn't really 1000w, it's 2x 500w and not bridgable if that's a concern
Members jasper383 Posted January 27, 2009 Members Posted January 27, 2009 That GK model has been proven over time, through countless gigs. The Little Giant is new and unproven. Ashdown's record with the Superfly (Little Giant's predecessor) was spotty. If weight is your truly, only concern, then Little Giant. Otherwise, I vote GK.
Members been_effected Posted January 27, 2009 Members Posted January 27, 2009 +1 on Jasper +2 Love the 1001RB-II. Fantastic head.
Members t3ch Posted January 27, 2009 Members Posted January 27, 2009 I haven't tried the Littl Giant, but I have no qualms recommending the GK.
Members Bassin' 'Round Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 ...give me the Little Giant...1000, that is...500 watts/side @ 4 ohms, same as 1000 @ 2 (vs. 700 @ 4)...under 8 lbs. (vs. 22) ...$650 (vs.$750)...nothing against the GK, but for my purposes, Ashdown has the upper hand...
Members Scary Bill Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 GK I picked a few years ago, I have need/want for a new amp.
Members Guttermouth Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 Way to be a follower Hahahahahaha. i just haven't been impressed with the ashdown stuff at all.all the gk's i've owned and repaired have been almost bulletproof and the company is great.

Dammit, you had to go and bring facts to argument. I love my 1001rbii.
Members FreestyleIntruder Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 I haven't tried that particular Ashdown, but I've always found them a little bit muddy sounding.
Members Super Bass Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 I've found Ashdowns to be muddy, somewhat unreliable and have heard some horror QC stories from other bassists here in Ireland who bought them.
Members georgestrings Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 Here's another vote for G-K... They're a proven winner, and sound great - any of the rb's will get the job done... - georgestrings(diggin' my 700rb-II)
Members Scary Bill Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 Only one vote for the ashdown, no love I guess?
Members yanikins Posted April 26, 2009 Members Posted April 26, 2009 I blew 2 ashdown amps in 3-4 months. Nuff said.
