Yorkville cabinet question.

GC has a used Yorkville 2x10 cab. I think it was the yb210 or something. I can't remember the exact model, and I can't find any pics anywhere. It had black carpet, metal grill, rear ported, tweeter, mid cut switch, high boost switch, and a blue stripe across the front. 300w power handling. They were asking $199 for it.

I tried it out with the tiny GK and Markbass heads. It sounded great, but when I hit lower notes on the E string, it really farted out. Is this because the amps I used were too powerful and I was just overdriving the speakers? Has anyone (Renny?) ever used or had experience with this? I'm looking to get a smaller cabinet, and I'm wondering what you guys think of this.

Thanks.

Ok, I am mildly confused. It's a 2x10 bass cabinet with a rear port and mid/high switches? Voicing switches on a passive cabinet? I might just be stumped. It could be what I am thinking about, but I don't recall those features on it specifically.

My first instinct is that it is the predecessor to the BC210 which can be seen here, which is the b210, so you may be on track with that.

It would have had a metal grille, black carpet and a horizontal blue stripe about 1/4 way up from the bottom. I think the grille itself would also have 2 angles on it towards the outsides, not a flat grille. Is this sounding like it? If so, it's basically (literally) the same cabinet as the one I showed, only difference is cosmetic.

It's about time you showed up. :poke:

Yes, it is exactly what you describe. So is $199 reasonable? I think it might work out for smaller clubs and coffee shops with the upright.

Sorry, was in school today, wasn't wasting time (at work) on here.

I'd say it sounds reasonable. But I'd try to get them down to $150 anyway. Try to play up the age card on it to chip a few bucks off. Play it too to make sure it all still works. There is parts still available for it if you ever need anything down the road.

Check the serial number on the back, the first digit gives you the last number of the year and the next two give the month(Jan=01 Dec=12). The series would have been made circa late 80's to mid 90's, so if it's a higher number (7+) then it was made in 198x if it's a lower number, then it's 199x.
