Members BottomHeavyKate
So I was telling my dad about the community amp build. He's almost as excited about me building and amp as I am. He's not a musician and doesn't know anything about cabs or amps but he's an excellent craftsman and he was asking me about the feasibility of building me a cab to go with my new amp..... I've googled it and there's a lot of information out there and I don't really know where to start. What would be a good sized cab to go with the amp we're all building? What kind of wood should he use and are there specs readily available? I may be in over my head here but I'm looking forward to having some new projects....any suggestions and advice are appreciated. Members james on bass
Wow. This sounds exactly like the thread I started last summer. I wound up building 2 cabinets based upon specs Burdi gave me. I used 17 ply, 3/4" baltic birch for mine.
Members bassman1956
There's a thread on TalkBass about building a cab with a 12" KappaLite 3012LF with a 6" mid. I've been eyeing it a lot, and lookinto building it later. (I have a few other projects to finish first. ) If I can find it, I'll post a link up on here. Members BottomHeavyKate
I found this page and it seems very helpful. I won't be gigging with it or anything so I'd like to use a very nice looking wood - I'd love a finished wood cab. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Bistro/3491/speaker.html It even has a link to free software for designing vents.... Wow. This sounds exactly like the thread I started last summer. I wound up building 2 cabinets based upon specs Burdi gave me. I used 17 ply, 3/4" baltic birch for mine. I will look up that thread - thanks!

Moderators Kindness Posted February 2, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 2, 2009 BHK - The 1x15+1x6 cabinet plans in greenboy's signature are even better from the perspective of having the best performing cabinet. Also, recently 82Daion had a cabinet built for him based on the age old EV606 plans and modern drivers. I'd talk to guys like him and james on bass who have recently made similar builds and see what they can teach you about the process and their satisfaction with the results. You are also welcome to come over and test out my 15/6 cabinet that I will use with the amp. It was designed concurrently with greenboy's 15/6 and is basically the same cabinet.
