basically i had a go on one today as i've just been asked to do a blues project and have been thinking about the west end show route more and more as an option job wise. so...any recommendations? A teacher at uni was mentioning to get me endorsed..but if that doesn't work then i'll need a half decent but not too expensive alternative..any help with the stick basses or how the hell i get myself endorsed would be muchly appreciated.

thanks guys

as far as getting endorsed you need to be a viable "product" ie someone with a good visible image in the music industry.

concerning stick basses or electric uprights...look into the NS design, they have the best playability and tone from an EUB that i have experienced.

I do, however, prefer the real deal...

I'm forced to play one at school and hate it (the good bassist gets the real upright....
), but it's a short-scale and I'm not sure how the technology has changed between when this thing was built and now.

I would get one with an standard upright scale length, not shorter.

If you gonna play a shorter scale, might as well just play a fretless slab.

The shorter the scale, the more precise intonation required.
