Members pickinatit
"But most importantly, what difference does it make how big the deficit gets?" Did you read this comment by a defender of the bill in the blog section? Wow!! Is my memory fuzzy, or did Obama & the Dems. just get themselves elected into power partially by beating & beating & beating Bush & the Repubs. over the head about running up the defecits? Members jasper383
You should see what Medicare is projected to cost over the next few generations. Pledged liabilities is something like $60 trillion. Unimaginably large amounts of money are going to have to come from somewhere to fund all of this. CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted February 14, 2009 CMS Author Share Posted February 14, 2009 How's about we make a stimulus thread killer? How's about we have 497 trillion threads about the Obama presidency? It'll only be 2.3% of the threads about the Bush presidency, but it's a start. Members ezstep
Congress had to fly in a Congressman who was out of town because of his mother's funeral. I own some Ford stock, and I am offended by their hypocrisy.

That was Obama not Congress who supplied the private jet just to score one more vote.So much for curtailing waste of taxpayers money.Maybe he'll do the same for the US auto bigshots next time around.Be awful if they have to use their own jets. Members In Absentia
It wouldn't surprise me to see the Obama threads surpass Bush. Of course there will. As long as people keep trying to change other people's minds on this forum, there will be threads about this {censored}. The HC Republican Caucus is a very vocal group who are looking for a bit of revenge for how W. was treated. It was hinted at months before Barack Obama was elected. I don't care for this stimulus package, I don't care for a lot of Obama's fiscal policies, and consider myself a classic liberal (Milton Friedman convinced me that conservative wasn't the right word for what I am, especially in light of what a lot of people think conservativism is now). Furthermore, the second stimulus has been prepared even before the election. This was going on even when the GOP was in power in Congress. Don't see why the Dems are just getting the blame now. There are billions of dollars worth of blame here. Spread it around, fellas. I think the naysayers should just post it all in one place. It would free up more threads on all the other pointless {censored} we talk about.

The original stimulus was the only thing Pelosi and Bush ever agreed on and she still tried to politicize it. I dislke few politicians but she is at the top of that short list. As far as bashing Obama, I've seen a little of it but far more bashing of the stimulus. Bush was bashed for his personality, intelligence, "evilness", and unwillingness to work with others from day one. The other problem was how complacient the media was in this. I disagree with most of Obama's politics, but I don't feel that I have to besmirch his character to make my points. He feels he's doing the right things, just as Bush did. Jesus Christ, don't type after 4 hours sleep. You're right, I meant Bush. Pelosi is a piece of {censored} and I agree with the forumite who said that it is a wonder that she even got elected. Bush and Pelosi did agree on the original stimulus, but a second stimulus was in the works then. I used to be a Bush basher, but realized early in 2008 that he was more of a victim of circumstances that he tried to control as best he could. He was villainized by CNN, etc., and Obama is getting the same crap from Fox News. I'm so tired of all this polarizing bull{censored} from both sides. I'm greatly disappointed in Obama for not coming through on his promises to put it aside (though not exactly surprised). The GOP in Congress have been obstinate fools and the Dems. are overzealous fools.

Yeah, I find that amazing on a regular basis - it blows the mind to consider the positions that Pelosi and Reid are in... When combined with Biden, Frank, and Dean - I'd be embarrassed if I were a Democrat to admit that's the best and brightest minds of their party... - georgestrings

Honestly, I don't think Obama is as flexible as he likes to portray, but he dosen't seem to push the blatant "us against them" mentality that existed in the Dem party the last election cycle. Pelosi is the same political hack she's always been, calling for investigations of Bush on whatever vague thing she can think of. She can't seem to realize that having political differences is possible without the other side being "evil" or realizing that bashing the other party isn't the only way to make yours better.
