OT: Gun / Holster Question

I have been in search (locally, not online) for a holster for my Glock 22 (.40). I was in the local Bass Pro Shop last night and EVERY SINGLE Glock holster they had was frickin' LEFT HANDED. Nothing is wrong with being left handed, but that is all they had. It makes me wonder if someone ordered the wrong stock or are the right handed ones just always sold out. I have been in several times but met the same results. Guess I need to just order online.

I am looking for one with the button release and adjustable tension to replace the little free rubber thing they ship with. Something like this:

Any suggestions?

You can probably get what you're looking for at Natchez or Midway... Hell, even Cabelas might have them...

BPS had these left handed ones for like $29.99 but the ones I see online go from $45 to over $100. I'll keep searching and try Cabela's and some others.

Anyone have a certain brand they recommend or are they all pretty much the same?

If you poke around a bit, you'll have no problem finding one online... As for a good brand, I can't help you with that - I don't own any tupperware - although I can certainly see a G19, G20 - or both in my future, as they're great pistols... I mostly use cordura type of holsters, because they don't mar finishes, and can be washed - and use either a shoulder rig or an SOB holster...

I've got a few kydex holsters like that...and I'll say that I much prefer leather. It's more comfortable to wear, holds the gun just as well if you get a decent one, and are very nice looking.

Not that the kydex is bad, it's pretty comfy on the hip. It's a paddle style, so it's easy on easy off. The gun is quick to draw as well.

Some guns are tough to find leather for though...like my USP Tactical pistol...hell, it's even hard to find a kydex holster for that.

Take a look at Safariland, Blackhawk (the holster you show looks like a BH Serpa), and Fobus...they all make a nice holster.

The ones at BPS were Serpa's. I want at least one good side carry holster and maybe get a shoulder later. I often wear it while riding my 4-wheeler in the backwoods and the shoulder holster is more out of the way.

Yeah...that makes total sense.

If you're going to wear it on your belt and ride in the woods, I'd recommend against a paddle holster so it won't just fall off. You might even want to think about something with a thumb break, just for good measure.

The retention systems are good on the Serpa, but personally I would feel more comfortable with the strap physically holding the gun in place. It would suck giant fat ass to have to back track your ride to find your Glock...

How do you like the 22?

The Glock 22 was my first auto pistol. Prior to this I primarily used a S&W K frame .357 and the first thing I noticed when I switched is the weight difference. The .357 would almost pull my jeans down and I hardly notice the Glock is there. So for carry, concealment, etc, it is wonderful.

It is the medium frame size Glock and fits my hand well. I have heard the smaller frame in .40 is hard to hold on to with recoil.

The next thing I had to learn was how fast .40 will drop. My first day at the range I was shooting under everything (about 25 yards out, which was stretching my pistol accuracy, anyway). I also had to adjust to the long trigger pull of the Glocks (their internal safety / cocking system) which can throw my aim off a little. I am considering an aftermarket spring and trigger that claims they correct this.

My 22 came with add-on nite sites. But I have yet to see them glow, reflect, or do anything different from the normal line sites.

All-in-all, I love it.

I have a Glock 22 and my main carry holster is a Galco C.C.P. (Concealed Carry Paddle). This is a great holster and secure the gun with a tight, snug fit.

I also use a Galco Q.M.C. (Quick Magazine Carrier) for my spare magazine.

For carry in the woods I use and Uncle Mike's Thumbreak holster in Cordura nylon.

Seems to me the Fobus style (Kydex) holsters would mar the finish on the gun.
