Members georgestrings
The GF took these pics of Ruger, our GSD puppy yesterday - he just turned 6 months old on Sunday... It's been alot of fun, and a tiny bit patience trying occasionally, but well worth the effort - he's already turning into a great watchdog, besides being a loving family member... He's really good, and listens well - but he is still only a puppy, and they LOVE to play, and get into things...We haven't weighed him in awhile, but I'm guessing he's atleast 65lbs - he was nearly 50 @ 18 weeks... He's definitely gonna be a big boy - woe be onto them that try to break into his home!!! He's currently wearing a 22" 4mm choke chain for a collar, and we'll be getting him a bigger one before summer... Members georgestrings
Handsome fellow.Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks - he really is... although he's still a bit "overly enthusiastic" around adults at times, we've had him around kids of 5-10 years old, and he gentles right down - I think he's smart enough to know that he could hurt them if he's not careful... - georgestrings
Members georgestrings
Grown a lot! Beautiful dog. Thanks, lug - I figured you wouldn't mind seeing a couple of current pics... You know, the house training couldn't have been any easier - he hasn't had an accident in the house since 9-10 weeks, and other than the 1st night - when he was only 7 weeks old(more our fault than his), he's only EVER peed in the house a total of 3 times, and only crapped in the house ONE time... We've never crated him at night, and he's also never chewed anything up... Of course, we leave lots of toys around for him to chew on, and a couple of bones - and I've been able to spend alot of time with him, - play time and training - by taking this time off from work... I got a little concerned about him developing separation anxiety because of that, so I started making a point of crating him up, and getting away from the house on a semi-regular basis - whether I needed to go anywhere or not... He's adjusted pretty well to this - and I'm not concerned about it any more... I'm *hoping* to start leaving him free to roam the house in a few more months while we're gone - we'll see about that, though... I'll probably start by giving him 10-15 minutes that way at 1st, then if that goes OK, increasing his alone "free" time 'til it's no longer an issue... - georgestrings

Very easy to train and absolutely perfect around kids her whole life. I had adults who were terrified of her until they saw her with kids. Her sheer size and look just bothered some people quite a bit. She had a bark so low it would almost shake the house as well. We crated her for less than a year and finally realized she didn't need it. I hope to have another shepherd one day after the current local dog catcher (not worthy of the name animal control officer) retires
Members Thumper
Aw, pups... The neighbors up the street got an eight-week old female GSD last month. She's just getting into the 'all paws and ears' stage and loves coming over to play with Harley.
