Members chubrocker Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 and Buh-Jee-Bus!!! Fender prices went up a LOT! Jag basses in particular!! I knew it was coming....reality has just hit. Should have kept my L2000 a few week longer--they went up about $150.
Members Jugghaid Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 What a great idea! Economy is in the {censored}ter, so RAISE prices.
Members Thumper Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 $1249 for a Road Worn Jazz?
Members Crescent Seven Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah, they've been on the rise for a little while. The Geddy Lee is like $999 now, that's $300 more than 2 years ago for the same bass. Cheesy.C7
Members Roguetitan Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 $1249 for a Road Worn Jazz? Road worn is a bunch of Horse doo doo If I wanted a POS looking ax I could do that my self:facepalm:
Members Crescent Seven Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 $1249 for a Road Worn Jazz? No {censored}. What a joke. Are people really buying those {censored}ing things? C7
Members burdizzos Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Have you guys been paying attention to the value of the dollar over the last few years?
Members Crescent Seven Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Have you guys been paying attention to the value of the dollar over the last few years? I don't have any dollars, why would I know anything about the value of them? C7
Members tylytle Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah, it's gettin crazy. On more than just musical gear.
Members King Kashue Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah, they've been on the rise for a little while. The Geddy Lee is like $999 now, that's $300 more than 2 years ago for the same bass. Cheesy. C7 I paid $490 for mine, brand new.
Members burdizzos Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Well, injecting trillions of dollars into an economy that lacks the assets to back up the currency is most certainly going to drive up the cost of everything.
Members burdizzos Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 I paid $490 for mine, brand new. Dude, sell it and buy guns!
Members Emprov Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Have you guys been paying attention to the value of the dollar over the last few years?Ya. It's been steadily rising over the last six months or so.
Members J. Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Yep. Same old stuff. When Fender first started allowing mail order catalogs to publish their stuff, the Fender Standard (MIM) strat, as well as the MIM P and J basses were $279. Those days are long gone. If we keep going the way we're going with the gov't trying to "prime the pump" of the economy, we very may well see some good ol' stagflation.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted February 24, 2009 Moderators Posted February 24, 2009 No {censored}. What a joke. Are people really buying those {censored}ing things?C7 I'm interested in the answer to this. Not only is it fake mojo, but the fake mojo is identical on all the basses (marks/wear in identical spots).
Members More Cowbell Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Do people actually buy those? I've seen them hanging on the wall, but I've never seen anybody play them... load of crap, if you ask me.
Members Billystrat Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 I'd like to point out Fender's basses aren't playing/sounding any nicer either!
Members Crescent Seven Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Well, injecting trillions of dollars into an economy that lacks the assets to back up the currency is most certainly going to drive up the cost of everything. But don't worry, bro. Obama is going to cut the deficit in half by 2013. C7
Members jonathan_matos5 Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 But don't worry, bro. Obama is going to cut the deficit in half by 2013. C7 half of what it is now or half of the amount after he has tripled it? trowing money away and cutting taxes isn't helping the economy or the national deficit. if i were "The Man" i would raise taxes and then lower the annual salary of all US Senators and Congressmen, as well as the members of the Supreme Court Justices, and Ambassadors. hell i would probably push to lower minimum wage. under my administration i would be hated by all but dammit the deficit would be gone.
Members J. Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 I paid $490 for mine, brand new. I think that's the fair price for that bass, at least in terms of utility and use-value. I like the Geddy, but it's in no way a thousand dollar instrument.
Members King Kashue Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 if i were "The Man" i would raise taxes and then lower the annual salary of all US Senators and Congressmen, as well as the members of the Supreme Court Justices, and Ambassadors. The 100 Senators combine to make $16.98 Million dollars per year. The 435 Congressmen combine to make $74.7 Million. The Nine Supreme Court Justices make $1.8 Million per year. There are roughly 200 ambassadors at any given point, making approximately $30 million per year. That's a total of $123.5 million or so... The total US Budget deficit for 2008 was $438 Billion (and is projected to be $482 Billion for 2009). The salaries you're talking about represent 0.025% of the budget deficit for 2008... And that's not counting the hundreds of billions in war expenses, those are outside the budget itself. hell i would probably push to lower minimum wage. under my administration i would be hated by all but dammit the deficit would be gone. One, how would changing the minimum wage affect the budget deficit at all? Two, so far you've suggested changing 0.02% of the total budget deficit...If you entirely stopped paying the Entire Congress, all the Justices, and every ambassador, you'd have lowered the budget deficit for 2009 from $482 billion to $481.88 billion... Not exactly what I'd call "gone" :poke:
Members Crescent Seven Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 Plus if you made Congress work for free, it would be full of narcissistic rich guys that are hungry for power and notoriety.:poke:C7
Members Dave Campbell Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 What does the Department of Homeland Security cost to run every year? The war on drugs is pretty costly, too. Let's legalize hemp, and, of course... decriminalize bud.
