Please pick one, and reasons for your choices would be nice... I typically play modern, hard rock and metal, but also do 80s/90s stuff, and have been known to cover classic rock, blues, and jazz... My main gigging cab is a Mesa PH 610, but I also have a Peavey 210TVX and 410TVX, and a pair of 115s - one Traynor and one Yorkville... I play both 4 strings and 5ers - the 4s are a Schecter Hellraiser-4, and some Fender/Squiers - and the 5s are Spector Q5 Pros... Any of these choices have more than enough power for my gigging needs, and all will cost between $400 to $430, total - and I'll still have a Peavey T-Max as an alternative - I think that covers any needed info...

i voted for the GK RB, because its what i use, and what i choose to use... absolutely perfect for what you want. they sound awesome with 5 stringers, they have the 5-string in option which just takes you to the next step of sounding totally awesome with a 5'er, it makes all the difference. very warm but very very clear tone. and they're also almost indestructible.

GB Neopak , just not sure if it would have enough power so to be sure I would want to spend a little time with it . But Tube front end , tiny , light . "like new " GB warranty .

+1. I have the NeoPak and the 600. I haven't used the 600 in months cuz the NeoPak is so darn easy to transport.

I had the GK 700rbII and it was a workhorse. Loud, clean, full... Great amp. I have yet to hear a GB but everybody seems to love them and if you want some tube warmth it might be the right choice. The NEO Pac looks really cool.

Can you compare them with your cabs? I would, in the same room if possible because different rooms have different affects on amp sound.

I voted for the 600 due to blendable preamps; the Neopak is a suitable primary amp if you like the tube channel a lot, but it's not my favorite. It's a great amp, but I would take the 600 over it as a primary head. My neopak is my backup amp and what I take to people's houses or practice space if need be.

As much as I like the 700RB, if you could get a GBE600 for the same price it is just a flat out superior sounding amp IMHO. More flexible, about the same loudness, and no wasted horn biamp

Eden.

No thanks - as I told you before, they're not reliable enough for me... Besides, when compared to G-B, G-K, and Peavey in terms of customer service, Eden is sorely lacking...

Don't get me wrong - Eden gear sounds great - I've just seen and heard of their stuff going tits up, and crappy customer service for me to be buying their amps... I'd buy one of their cabs, though...

I voted GK, Had it been a GB 1200 I probably would have voted that.

The G-K is definitely a solid choice - in fact, I have no question that every one of them will get the job done well for me... Although the GBE 1200 is a fantastic amp, if I had a choice, I'd take the 750 over it - WAY more than enough power, a bit lighter, and 2 rack spaces, instead of 3... I have a 4 slot rack case(couple of them, actually) for my bass rig - and am keeping my Korg tuner and X2 wireless receiver in it, so a 3 slot amp isn't in my plans...

Truthfully, I don't even need as much power as the GBE 600 has, but it's always nice to have more than you need...

GK700RB II is all you need. You can play any style, this head is a blast. And the special 4/5 strings switch is pretty cool for your need. Add some "extra-balls" even with 4 strings.

Agreed - I played the same 700rb II I'd be buying, and it sounded great... I think the GBE 600 is a bit louder(atleast clean, anyways) - but that doesn't matter much to me... To me, the 600's 2 ohm capability and tube/ss Pre channels give it an advantage over the G-K, although I know I could be happy gigging the G-K, no problem...

Yeah, given my cabs and gigging situations, the NeoPak is powerful enough... If I need more power than it'll provide with my cab - Mesa PH 610 - the gig will be properly PA supported anyways... Pretty much regardless of the situation, I match volume with the drummer and guitarist - and any of these will do that...

what's the ohmage on your cabs?

i voted NeoPak, but i run mine at 4 ohms.

if the cab is an 8, i would change my vote to the 600.

and for the money, i'd look for a GK800RB. it was the industry standard for a reason.

Well, here's the thing - I typically gig with a Mesa 610 that's 4 ohms, but I used to gig with a Peavey 210 + 410 pair of cabs that are 4 ohms each - and I still use them for rehearsal, and a backup/2nd rig... So, although 2 ohm capability isn't necessarily a must, it's definitely a plus... I also have (2) 115 cabs that are both 8 ohms, but I probably won't gig with them...

So, if I get the 600, I could drive another cab besides my 610 without another amp, or use it with both my 210 and 410 - and if I got the Neo, I'd send it in for 2 ohm conversion...

Although I'd be getting the G-K with a warranty, G-B's products are pretty solid, and I believe they'd stand behind it...

I voted for the GBE-600, but that was only after I did enie-meanie-meinie-moe between that and the GK700RBII. Both are solid amps. Both work great in rock settings, and both are versatile enough to use in other settings as well.

Yeah, there are no bad choices between these... I figured that by posting this, maybe I'd learn something more about them before I made my purchase... Thanks for the input...

Well, the Neo would be sweet for rehearsals and gigs with a provided cab - but I think the 600 would be better overal for my gigging needs - they're both really nice, and both have their positives... I really don't mind the weight difference between them regarding gigging - I'm usually bringing a 610 cab anyways, and half the time a whole PA, so amp weight isn't *that* big a deal to me at these weights...

Thanks for the perspective of someone using both of them - I appreciate it...

You should consider a used GBE750. It does a couple things the 600 can't, and has a little extra juice to boot. It has seperate input gains for the two channels, and seperate eq's. You can get a lot more flexibility on the fly, and between basses with it over the 600. Don't know if that's in your budget but it is a very nice improvement over the 600.
