Anyone out there with an acoustic-electric bass guitar? I have a cutaway Larriviee CB-09-4 with what I think is a Fishman pickup with active electronics. This guitar is the real deal. It's solid wood all around, with spruce top and rosewood sides and back. It's acoustic sound is cello-like. Very sweet, indeed--but the volume is more at practice levels. Because of that, I've been wanting some amplification for when I jam with louder acoustic instruments. Can anyone recommend an amp that does justice to their high-end acoustic-electric bass?

lots of acoustic bass players/upright bass players have been playing Gallien-Krueger combos and stuff.... they sound really good with it.... my bass teacher plays his URB through a 112 combo and it sounds really good.

Not sure if you call it "high end" but, I play my MK Dragonfly 4 Fretless thru a Crate BT50 and it sound very good.

My MK is setup with tapewounds. Makes a world of difference in the tone department. I can approach the upright sound if I tweek the settings enough.......

I've played mine through both my Roland Cube Bass 30 and GK MB150 combos, and the full YBA200 + Mesa 115+210 stack, and it sounds great through all of them. IF all you're doing is keeping up with a few acoustic guitars that are not plugged in, then the Roland Cube 30 would be fine. If they are amping too, then figure you need 3 times whatever their power is.

I see that bassman1956 has a Traynor tuber. I have a small tube amp for my electric guitar, and I do love the warmer sound. How big of a deal is it for a bass to have a tube amp or a hybrid SS/tube amp? Any recommendations for tube bass amps?

BTW, I did notice that Musican's Friend doesn't have any Traynors.
