And I met the following (relatively) famous people:

  • Tucker Carlson (sans bowtie)

  • Governor Mitt Romney (who looks like the guy from American Dad)

  • Dr. Ron Paul (surprisingly quick for an old guy in more ways than one!)

  • Tom DeLay

  • Joe the Plumber (who's name isn't really Joe)

  • Senator Fred Thompson and his lovely wife, Jeri

  • Michelle Malkin (whom could probably beat anybody in a knife fight)
Overall, it was a lot of fun, although it was physically draining. Since I live just north of Baltimore, I commuted in to DC using the MARC Train, and then took the Metro. To all that commute like this, I can't understand how or why you do it, but I salute you nonetheless, because I could never do it.

Also, everything in DC is ridiculously overpriced (not including the ass-rape 10% sales tax). Especially at the Omni Shoreham; a half sandwich costs at least $5. To hell with that.

I won't go over what was said, as most of it will probably posted online within the next few days. Dr. Paul's speech was especially brilliant. Wayne LaPierre was also excellent (I joined the NRA the very same day). Hell, all of the speakers were good.

However, I do think that some of the speakers rather liberally applied a generous amount of cheap shots against the democrats. While I normally don't have a problem with this, the entire convention was being broadcast on both C-SPAN and Fox News. Therefore, if theoretically, one is trying to win over the opponent, it helps to present your argument logically without beating them up at the same time.

Oh, and Fred Thompson's wife is a babe:

I watched it on CSPAN and I agree with you about the Democrat cheap shots. While the conferences was primarily aimed at the conservative base, moderates watching may have been turned off by some of those cheap shots. Romney had a decent speech, but his argument about the TARP money was an excuse IMO.
