It's right there, in the banner ad on top of the monitor. Mike cares. He cares about my wallet. And the MTDs look mighty perty.

I just can't afford it right now, but I can't resist. Maybe it's Mike's beard and Dutch Boy haircut.

He cares, after all. Yes he can.

The Heir's are serious axes. I really wish I'd have held onto mine. I bought it new, had it setup, restrung, everything. Just didn't need it at the time, and then I ended up REALLY needing it!

I'm content with my Mod right now though, especially for this Houston area stuff w/ the godforsaken weather and humidity. :)

I was gonna buy a 5 string Kingston a couple of years ago before I bought my first Aria. I think it was a black one with a pearly pickguard.

Yep that was probably one of the older, passive-design models.

I'm put off by their extremely wide string spacings. I'm not a jazz player, I don't have enormous hands. The nut spacing is nice and wide, but by the time you get to the 15th fret, the strings are painfully wide apart.

If you're gonna build it with a narrow nut, keep the narrow spacing all the way down!

Yep. It was before they started calling them the Heir. It was just Kingston and Kingston Artist I think?

Yeah it's kinda confusing as to what all exactly was/is out there in regards to the old MTD import models. I know Grendel, Beast, Kingston's of various makes, etc.. and I'm sure plenty of others. All great stuff. The revamped ZX Kingston's absolutely smoke, though.

I'm not criticizing the asymmetrical necks. I'm criticizing the string spacing.

I cannot play an MTD. But I CAN play a Gibson Tobias Killer B5. Asymmetrical neck, great Bart bite, excellent tone and sustain.

I'm saying it.

Gibson Tobias basses are better than MTD basses, for mortals with normal-sized hands.

The last part is probably true. Actually that's the reason I didn't buy a new Killer B! :D

I have played a few of the Mike Tobias Design Bass's. They all felt pretty lifeless. The neck geometery was iffy at best. The quality was sub par. The sound was lack luster. I think better electronics could fix the lack of a voice but, all in all the market is full of excelent bass's for less money and they have more charecter.
