Members no-logic
I have a guy in France interested in my Gibson Victory Artist. I've never shipped anything internationally. Any tips? Can I trust the USPS website for pricing? It's very confusing.
Members RSBro
I shipped my '96 fretless Q5 to Rippin' Robin via USPS. FedEx was like 3x as much. I luckily had a flight case that was custom made for it, so I sent it in that, inside of a double-wall cardboard box. The online quote ended up being just a little higher than actual pricing. I would just make sure the bass is secure inside. Like, when you shake it, it better not move even a bit. My situation turned out great and RR loves that darned thing to death. Members no-logic
So they can be shipped USPS without removing the neck to reduce the package size? Do you remember what it cost just out of curiousity?

Do you remember what it cost just out of curiousity? Yep, they will take something the size of a packaged bass, and remember this was a box on TOP of an already large flight case. Mid 100's, maybe? Moderators Kindness Posted March 3, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2009 I've shipped to Europe through USPS a few times. It is always the most economical way to go compared to UPS or FedEx. I've shipped in a full size case and I've also shipped with the neck removed to lower the box size and shipping costs. The most I've paid was around $175. Members jasper383
My Post Offices around here will take a bass in a case, but only if the box is really tight around it. I think circumference plus length can't be more than 108", although the rules change, and USPS employees tend to have their own ideas. That's a bolt on guitar; I strongly suggest taking the neck off and shipping it as Kindness says. Lower cost, lower customs (sometimes), and safer journey for the instrument. I suspect guitar cases attract unwanted attention along the way.
Members Super Bass
USPS for sure, or if you have the option of it in your country EMS.
Members Jugghaid
Yup. USPS is DEFINITELY the way to go. Don't that a few times.
Members PrestiaRules
I shipped a Gibson Victory to Europe last year. I removed the neck and it was about $175 via Canada Post... I know some countries have length/size restrictions on entry but they will know that at your local USPS I assume.

I did a quick check earlier and came up with $85. I'm assuming that is on the light side. Like I said, the USPS price check page is confusing. I don't know what to tell the guy. Members Jazz Ad
USPS is fine and in France it connects with our national postal service which is by far the most practical if not the safest.
